About this opportunity
This Special Notice, posted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center on February 4, 2026, announces a presolicitation for custom textile prototype services. The procurement is structured as a sole source contract award to MOONPRINT SOLUTIONS LLC, a company located in Dover, Delaware, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). NASA has determined that MOONPRINT SOLUTIONS LLC is the sole provider capable of delivering the required services. The contract will be performed at NASA Johnson Space Center and will utilize commercial items and services procedures under FAR Parts 12 and 13. The procurement falls under NAICS Code 541715 (Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences). Interested organizations may challenge this sole source determination by submitting written capabilities and qualifications.
This Special Notice seeks a custom textile prototype contractor to support NASA's Artemis Suit Materials Project, specifically for the continued development of advanced coating systems for lunar spacesuit outer shell fabrics. The contract is structured on a firm fixed price basis with an eight-month period of performance following Approved to Proceed, encompassing five major milestones from kickoff through final delivery. Key deliverables include optimized coated Vectran-based fabric samples, test plans, interim samples for testing, a scale-up assessment report, and five linear yards of final coated fabric that meets specifications for flame resistance, electrostatic discharge performance, interlaminar peel strength, and abrasion resistance. Organizations wishing to challenge the sole source determination must submit written submissions by 1 p.m. Central Standard Time on February 9, 2026, to Cara Craft at Cara.s.craft@nasa.gov; only written submissions will be considered, and oral communications are not acceptable. The Government reserves discretion to proceed with a competitive procurement based on challenge submissions received.
