About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime is seeking to procure CHUTE, AMMUNITION through a pre-solicitation notice for a specific National Stock Number (NSN: 1005-012575386). The agency is primarily interested in acquiring this item directly from an approved manufacturer, with current restrictions limiting procurement to specific sources. The key contract requirement is that potential manufacturers must demonstrate the ability to produce the ammunition chute to the same or higher quality level as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Companies wishing to be considered as an approved source must submit a comprehensive Source Approval Request (SAR) package through the DLA Land and Maritime Alternate Offer/Source Approval Program. The technical submission must thoroughly document the prospective contractor's manufacturing capabilities, with the burden of proof resting on the contractor to prove product equivalence or superiority. The response deadline for potential manufacturers is May 7, 2025, with all technical information to be submitted directly to the designated Contract Specialist.

Currently, Nobles Worldwide, Inc. is the sole approved source for this NSN, operating under a specific acquisition management code (AMC) that restricts competitive sourcing. The pre-solicitation does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, meaning the opportunity appears open to multiple potential manufacturers. While no specific award value or quantity is mentioned in the document, the procurement is for ammunition-related equipment categorized under the NAICS code 332994 for Small Arms, Ordnance, and Ordnance Accessories Manufacturing. The procurement process requires an extensive technical review, with potential manufacturers needing to provide comprehensive documentation demonstrating their manufacturing capabilities. Interested companies must navigate a complex qualification process that involves proving technical competence, manufacturing precision, and product quality equivalent to or exceeding the current approved source.

their product is equal to, or better, than the currently approved item which DLA Land and Maritime is
procuring.
