Added: Oct 06, 2017 4:49 pm In response to this Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), the CDC received over 300 white papers. These were reviewed and a formal request for proposal (RFP) was sent to over 100 prospective offerors. Ninety proposals were received and technically evaluated, and almost thirty contracts awarded.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Office of the Associate Director for Science (OADS) issues this Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) Number FY2017-OADS-01 under the provisions of FAR 35.016 and FAR 6.102(d)(2) which provides for the competitive selection of research proposals. Contracts that are awarded based on responses to this BAA are as a result of full and open competition and therefore in full compliance with the provisions of PL 98-369, "The Competition in Contracting Act of 1984."
CDC contracts with educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, state and local government, and private industry for research and development (R&D) in those areas covered in Part II of this BAA. The NAICS code for this BAA is 541712, Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology) with a size standard of 500 employees. The government reserves the right to make multiple awards under this announcement.
This BAA is open and in effect for 31 days from the date of release (March 27, 2017 through April 26, 2017). THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE CALL FOR WHITE PAPERS for the Applied Research to Address Emerging Public Health Priorities. Prior to submission of a white paper Offerors are strongly encouraged to contact the CDC BAA Technical Coordinator, Ms. Mim Kelly, PhD, at Mkelly2@cdc.gov. White papers must be received by April 26, 2017 in order to be considered for further evaluation.
