About this opportunity
This Award Notice from the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response awarded a contract to Pfizer Inc. valued at $22,254,631.56 to supply critical medications to replenish the Strategic National Stockpile by December 31, 2020. The contract provides for Hydromorphone, Cisatracurium, Zosyn, Cefepime, Dobutamine, Ondansetron, Dopamine, and Heparin to a maximum of eight Strategic National Stockpile locations within the continental United States by the end of the calendar year.
Notice text
The mission of the Division of Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS), of the United States (U.S.) Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary Preparedness and Response (ASPR),
is to ensure the availability and rapid deployment of life-savings pharmaceuticals, antidotes, other medical
supplies and equipment necessary to counter the effects of nerve agents, biological pathogens, and chemical
agents. When state, local, tribe and territorial public health and medical systems request federal assistance to
support their response efforts, DSNS ensures that the right medicine and supplies get to those who need them
most during emergency.
The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is a national repository of large quantities of medicines, vaccines,
medical supplies, and medical equipment stored in strategic locations around the nation. The assets are
designed to supplement state and local public health departments in the event of a large-scale public health
emergency that causes local supplies to run out. COVID-19 has exposed a potential gap in the United
States’ ability to effectively address the nations needs for high-demand medications during a global and
national pandemic due to the over-reliance on overseas pharmaceutical supply chains as well as the lack of
maintaining a sufficient domestic reserve of critical medications. There is a need for Hydromorphone, Cisatracurium, Zosyn, Cefepime, Dobutamine, Ondansetron, Dopamine, and Heparin. The base quantity period of performance will be from date of award to December 31, 2020. Delivery may be up to 8 SNS locations within the CONUS. Exact locations will be provided after award due to the sensitive nature of these sites.
