About this opportunity
The Special Notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs announces their intent to award a sole source contract to Jeol USA, Inc. for electron microscope service and repair. The VA seeks to procure preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, technical support and original equipment manufacturer replacement parts for a JEM-1400 Electron Microscope owned by the VA Portland Medical Center to support ongoing research projects.
The sole source award is justified as Jeol USA, Inc. manufactured the microscope and is the exclusive authorized provider of all required service and parts according to the OEM exception under FAR 13.106-1(b)(2). The anticipated award date is February 8, 2024 for a firm-fixed price contract comprising a base year of $XX,XXX and four option years. The Special Notice satisfies the requirement of FAR 5.201(b)(1) to publicize the proposed sole source procurement, which will be awarded non-competitively to Jeol USA, Inc. as the only acceptable source capable of meeting the VA's needs.
