About this opportunity
This Special Notice announces the Department of Veterans Affairs' intent to award a sole source contract to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc. for a MACSima Imaging System and related equipment, software, installation, training, and services. The MACSima system will enable the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center's research department to perform immunofluorescent imaging of protein targets across tissue specimens at subcellular resolution.
The objective is to procure a MACSima Imaging System to allow the research department to analyze a wide range of fixed tissue and cell samples through automated data collection and analysis software. Interested parties have until February 12, 2024 to identify their capability to meet the requirements, including supplying the outlined products and services. While the associated NAICS code is 513210 for medical equipment and supplies merchant wholesalers and the size standard is $47 million, this notice does not constitute a request for competitive quotes but rather announces the intent to award sole source based on responses received. The MACSima system utilizes liquid handling and an automated stage for precise sample positioning and imaging up to 20x magnification to acquire multi-marker microscopy data on single samples through MICS cyclic staining technology.

The OKC VAMC research department requires the MACSima Imaging System which enables the immunofluorescent imaging of hundreds of protein targets across a single specimen at subcellular resolution. The staining system must have the capability to analyze a wide range of samples from any tissue (human or animal), have the compatibility with a variety of tissue preparation approaches, be low maintenance and not require a full-time dedicated technician, and be able to have automated data collection and analysis in software that comes with the instrument. The MACSima system consists of a liquid handling system, an automated working stage for precise positioning of samples and reagents, and an integrated microscope up to 20x magnification. The MACSima imaging system includes MACS iQ View Software solutions. The MACSima Imaging System uses MICS (MACSima Imaging Cyclic Staining) technology to acquire microscopy data for hundreds of markers using primary fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies on a single sample without harming the sample. Based on a broad portfolio of specially developed sample carriers, the MACSima Imaging System can process all kinds of fixed samples including tissue sections and adherent cellsThe associated North America Classification Systems (NAICS) Code is 513210 and the Business Size Standard is $47.0 Million.
THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, Monday, February 12, 2024. Information received in response to this notice must clearly demonstrate the capability of meeting the Government s need as stated above. Include any relevant information (specifications, cut sheets, brochures, capability statement, etc.) confirming the ability to supply the products and/or any services outlined in this notice.
