About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically Network Contracting Office (NCO) 6, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source, firm fixed price contract for the non-magnetic MRIdium 3860 MRI Infusion System. The contract is specifically targeted for the Fayetteville VA Medical Center located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The VA has identified two potential awardees: Iradimed Corporation from Winter Springs, Florida, and TrillaMed LLC from Bingham Farms, Michigan. Market research conducted by the VA has determined that these medical imaging items can only be sourced from a single provider without risking cost duplication or interrupting patient care. The solicitation falls under NAICS Code 339112 for Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing and Product Service Code 6525 for Medical Imaging Equipment and Supplies.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to provide transparency about the VA's intention to pursue a sole source procurement while simultaneously allowing other potential providers an opportunity to demonstrate their capability. Interested businesses can submit written responses by 12:00pm EDT on March 20, 2025, to Cherisse.Hall@va.gov. Contractors wishing to be considered must provide comprehensive documentation including company name, address, point of contact, phone number, System for Award Management (SAMs) Unique Entity ID Number, and authorization documentation proving they are a manufacturer, dealer, distributor, or reseller. While the VA will review all submitted responses, the agency explicitly retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the proposed acquisition. Importantly, this is not a competitive solicitation, and no telephone inquiries will be accepted. The VA's determination will be based on the sufficiency of evidence demonstrating a contractor's ability to meet the specific medical imaging equipment requirements for the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.
