Vendor Questions Portable/Mobile Loading Dock/Ramp
Notice ID: W912LP-21-Q-1117
Q1. Would it be OK if we built the ramp in 2 pieces? This is typically how we build these ramps when they require such a high weight capacity.
A1. What is required to reattach the two pieces and does it cause potential for damage of equipment? We are not in favor of a ramp we break down and reassemble for movement. We would need to see the schematics of what is entailed in the process before we could say yes or no to the design.
Q2. Do you plan on moving the ramp often? I don't think you would need to be concerned with damaging the ramp, but I will sure this up with our production team.
A2. The number of times we need the move the ramp is subject to the frequency of Iowa National Guard units receiving notification for deployment and the unit’s location in Iowa.
At this time we do not have a large demand from the Pentagon; however, that can change overnight.
Q3. Our vendor wanted to confirm whether a 2-piece ramp as in the drawing attached would be acceptable.
A3. Concern for Soldiers putting the two ramps together for safety issues, requiring two assets to move the ramp does not seem like it makes sense for its intended purpose. We would avoid a two piece ramp.
