1 May spoils be dumped somewhere on the Base or must they be taken offsite? No, they must be taken off site.
2 Is there any topsoil or fill on the Base that may be used for this project? No.
3 Is it known if the block walls are filled solid with rebar? We did the interior demo job at the bldg 335. At that building the block walls were filled solid with rebar. It is not known whether or not the walls are solid grouted with rebar.
4 Is the MEP Demo on the Select Demo Contractor? In other select demo jobs we have done the MEP was done by those contractors. We can qualify it or exclude it. Just wanted to clarify.
This project is a single prime contract. How the general contractor elects to break up the work is up to them.
Reference specification section 28 16 00 Intrusion Detection and Access Control, Paragraph 2.02. The base has an existing, USAF‐approved Advantor IDS annunciator in the SFS BDOC that is currently used to monitor and manage all IDS and non‐SCIF Access Control on base. This specification section indicates that a new head end system is required for the Building 345 project. Is the intention to install a separate head end IDS annunciator for just this building, or is the expectation that the existing Advantor IDS annunciator will be used to monitor the IDS for this building?
Provide headend equipment in building B345 for system provided. Building B345 shall be monitored at BDOC, Contractor to provide required monitoring equipment at BDOC (exact equipment requirements shall be coordinated with Government personnel), should system not be compatible with existing monitoring equipment.
6 Are we to start at a flanged outlet left by others in the Mechanical / Electric Room 131? This project is a single prime contract. How the general contractor elects to break up the work is up to them.
7 Does this project require seismic bracing on sprinkler pipe? Seismic bracing is not required for the project; seismic design category B.
8 Sprinkler specs include painting of exposed pipe – typically this is not in our scope of work – please advise? This project is a single prime contract. How the general contractor elects to break up the work is up to them.
Sprinkler Specs also list In‐Rack Sprinklers, but I do not see anything on the FP drawings showing where they are to be installed. I also do not see any rack systems in the architectural drawings.
Please advise? In rack sprinklers are not required for the project.
10 Sprinkler Specs also indicate that we need to furnish and install all electrical wiring conduit – this is typically done by other trades? Please advise. This project is a single prime contract. How the general contractor elects to break up the work is up to them.
11 Are extended coverage sprinkler heads acceptable if hydraulic calculations prove they work? The use of extended coverage sprinklers is not permitted. (UFC 3‐600‐01) 12 What is the proposed construction schedule? The Government prefers Critical Path Method.
Are flexible connections acceptable? (for the sprinklers) The use of flexible sprinkler hose with fittings intended for direct connection to sprinklers is not permitted. (UFC 3‐600‐01)
We need to ask a question about the IDS/ACS layout on sheet E103 vs. the IDS/ACS riser diagram on sheet E603 – they don’t match at all. There are devices on the layout that don’t make operational sense – the system can’t work as depicted. The riser doesn’t show these devices, but also doesn’t show devices which should be there, so it doesn’t make sense either – can’t work as depicted. Bottom line is that neither drawing is correct. Please advise. Vendor Clarification: There are inconsistencies between the Security Plan (Sheet E103), the Riser Diagram (Sheet E603) and the door hardware schedule
(Sheet A601 and Specification Section 08 71 00) for the required security system. What is being requested is not clear or understandable based on these inconsistencies. Specifically, the riser diagram shows only 3 card readers (138A, 138B, 142); the door hardware schedule shows 5 doors with electronic locking hardware (135, 136, 137, 138B, 142A) and the security plan shows every door with a card reader (symbol KP?). Which is correct?"
Drawings have been updated to correct misinformation/confusion. See amended electrical drawings E‐103 and E‐603 in response to RFI #14 (vendor clarification of RFI below). Also, note there has been an electronic lock added to door 138A not specified in the door hardware
15 Regarding the Civil Drawings, there are no new contours for the new mounds, there are proposed high points but no elevations, please advise.
Finished grading generally follows existing surface grades. High points are labelled to show drainage to existing inlets. Mounds are defined by the details on C503. Details provide mound heights and general slopes. Top of mounds to be set based on surrounding grade.
Regarding Flooring:ID‐100 ‘MISCELLANEOUS NOTES’: #3 is repeated with conflicting information, assigning the same code to different products.

Recent similar building retrofits utilize Automated Logic controllers, should the new Building Automation System for Building 345 be similar in functionality with future seamless compatibility for campus wide integration to the WebCTRL system? The BAS is not required to operate as an integrated campus wide system. The use of WebCTRL is acceptable for the project.
The existing Building Automation System provides unlimited simultaneous user access, should the new system provide the same? If not unlimited, what is the required number of simultaneous users? There is no specific requirement regarding the minimum number of simultaneous users required.
25 Please confirm minimum trend storage includes every input and output in the system at 5 minute intervals for no less than 2 years.

In going through the drawings and specifications, we have discovered that there are windows & a window schedule on the drawings, but there are no sections in the specifications with detailed window specs. These specifications are also needed by our engineers for the calculations for the optional blast resistant windows. Please provide detailed window specifications. Windows are specified in section 08 41 13.
32 Please provide information on the original roof manufacturer for building 345. FireStone RubberGard EPDM
The government is seeking a 15 year manufactures warranty for the repairs for the new equipment flashings, this cannot happen, as the manufacturer will not issue a warranty for new flashings.
We can however maintain the existing warranty if in fact there still is one. We would need manufactures information including manufactures pin number for the warranty, which would allow us to properly maintain the warranty on the roof.
Maintaining the existing warranty is acceptable. An additional 15 year warranty on new work is not required.

In project specs, it states that the EPDM to be used is to be black .060 and it references multiple manufactures. The existing EPDM is white .060 and is a firestone roof. If there is an existing warranty we will need to use white firestone product in order to keep this warranty. Patching of existing roof is to use materials compatible with the existing roof.
Most of the wall sections on drawing A302 show the face of the existing EIFS with the wall girts being embedded. Will we have to cut a trough in the EIFS at each girt, or is there something I'm missing? Yes, the existing insulation system is to be removed as required to securely fasten the zee girts.
62 Is the Base Bid and Panel option to include the EIFS structure on the roof? Yes.
