• Must be able to effect and simulate motion that includes roll, pitch, and 360° yaw

• Must provide visual ability to employ Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual

Flight Rule (VFR) for improved flight training

• Mishap prevention training

• Must be able to employ training specifically designed for helicopters with a minimum of 10 training profiles IAW TC 3-04.93

• Must possess the ability to produce variable meteorological conditions, i.e., (clouds, wind, turbulence, wind shear, fog, rain)

• System must be able to replicate helicopter malfunctions and failures and allow customers to be able to select geo-typical data base for airports and navigation aids

• System should provide helicopter aerodynamics flight training with gyroscopic precession ground effects, translational lift, transverse flow effect, and hovering (both IGE and OGE)

• Must be able to provide ability for attitude recovery

• System ability must allow for instruction that includes: Navigation equipment or instrument malfunctions, communication loss, avionics failure (complete or partial), engine, tail rotor, and fuel system failures

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must include a realistic helicopter cockpit

• Must have the ability to support a single student simulation that represents the pilot seat

• Trainer must possess ability for interaction with flight controls

• Must contain a wide field of view

• Must provide interactive instrument panel and display with ability to produce actual sound of a helicopter

Exhibit 1

• Simulator must include quick stop feature that turns simulator off if the cabin door is opened or unsecured

• Systems internal cabin should possess air conditioning/ventilation controls for cabin comfort, to include lighting or visual illumination

FLIGHT CONTROLS

• Must provide the ability to control base of simulator using a closed loop feature.

Systems motion control includes visual systems and all cockpit switches

• The simulator, at a minimum should provide the following mechanical systems and components:

o Circuit breaker(s) Hobbs meter o Navigation position lights o Rotating beacon o Ignition switch o Engine start button o Landing light o Mixture o Cyclic with electric trim o Anti-torque pedals o Collective w/throttle o Fuel switch

• The simulator, at a minimum, should include internal cabin safety switches to initiate the flight sequence

• The system, at a minimum, should include an internal cabin switch to activate Emergency Stop that gives the pilot or instructor the ability to stop the training session, and stop all movement of the motion system

VISUAL DISPLAY

• The spatial disorientation vestibular simulator at a minimum, should provide an out the window view or computer generated scenarios that reflect real-time graphics engaged from PC and high end graphics. The systems, at a minimum, must provide forward, side, and downward views that project, no less than 1200 horizontal x 680 vertical.

• Must, at a minimum include a three-dimensional geo-typical visual database of

North America

• Must, at a minimum, include real world navigational aids and airports are displayed and include airports, topographical features and cultural features

• Must at a minimum have the ability to adjust meteorological conditions, to include time of day, visibility, cloud type, density, cloud tops and bottoms

• Must, at a minimum provide the ability to change turbulence, wind direction, wind speed, wind shear and lightning

• The system must be able to produces a high fidelity flight environment that allows pilots to practice realistic, safe, flight maneuvers using day or night flying scenarios

VISUAL DATABASE

• At a minimum, must include 3D Imagery of the area consistent with Dothan AL with 200 NM X 200 NM and 1 meter resolution

• Must include an Instructors Console that allows instructors to monitor training flight information, generate and select flight conditions

INSTRUCTOR DISPLAY

• Must have the ability to allow instructor to enable the pilot to control the system

• Must include an Emergency Stop feature at the console for safety operations

• Must have the ability to reset the systems and allow for re-centering and leveling of the cockpit

• Must provide ability to communicate using microphone or headset that connects to the pilot

• Must provide a display that allows instructors to monitor forward, out the window, flight instruments as seen through the pilot’s field of view

• Must provide the ability to view moving maps

• Must provide the ability to allow instructor to create, modify, save, and recall preprogrammed profiles

• Must have the ability to create various profiles that can be used for future training scenarios

• At a minimum, the system must provide the ability to integrate digitized recorded audio

• At a minimum, must have the ability to create narrative comment and commands

• Should include printer to generate reports for back briefings

NIGHT VISION CAPABILITY

• The systems must have the ability to integrate Night Vision Goggle capabilities with potential use of varying colors, Infrared lighting, varying moon lighting conditions, star lighting, vehicle and environmental lighting
