The Marine Design Center (MDC) of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued this Request for Proposal, to procure a new heavy-lift crane. The crane acquired under this solicitation will be used in heavy-lift applications when mounted on a barge.
The heavy-lift crane acquired under this solicitation is one part of a two-part project to build a new floating crane barge for the Rock Island District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The floating crane barge will be used by the District in support of its maintenance mission on the inland navigation system.
The heavy-lift crane acquired by this solicitation, will be supplied in the second part of the project as Government Furnished Equipment to a shipyard to be mounted on a new barge to form a floating crane barge. Specific information on the crane (crane geometry and crane weight data) is required to validate the adequate performance of the integrated floating crane design (arrangement and capacity of the ballast system on the barge, barge intact stability, and crane load handling stability).
The new barge (to be acquired under a separate, future, solicitation) will be approximately 300 feet long by 68 feet wide, with a hull depth of 12 feet. The crane shall be located on the barge centerline, approximately 33 feet forward of the barge transom.
When completed, the new floating crane barge will be equipped with a heavy-lift crane capable of lifting a minimum of 375 long tons (840,000 lbs) at a radius of 60 feet.
The vessel will be ABS classed as a Floating Crane Barge.
C002 SCOPE OF WORK
The contract consists of three phases:
Phase I Planning, Scheduling and Engineering Phase II Construct, Test, and Deliver Phase III Installation, Assembly, Barge Testing, Training and Final Acceptance
In accordance with the three phases and the contract specifications, it is intended for the contractor to engineer, fabricate, test, and deliver a heavy-lift crane, as well as obtain API and ABS classification and certification.
