Site Visit Oahe Spillway Hoist Seal Replacement W9128F-16-T-0024 Questions:

1. How long does it take for the Government to place stop logs for the testing of the hoist system after seals are replaced and other work complete?

Answer: It will take approximately 4 hours to set the logs depending on lake elevation and proximity of the gate to the stop log storage area.

2. Are there lead paint tests available and will there be any lead paint abatement required?

Answer: There is lead based primer known on some of the components, no test reports are available at this time. It is not anticipated that enough primer will need to be disturbed to require abatement by the contractor. Care shall be taken to not disturb paint systems any more than needed. Touch up painting is not required.

3. Can bearing cap shims be reused if they are in good condition?

Answer: The bearing cap shims are made of stainless steel, if they are not damaged during the removal of the covers for inspection they may be reused. If damage occurs or there is apparent flaws in the shims the contractor shall replace them.

4. Do the bearing tolerances need to be checked and set as necessary?

Answer: This contract does not require the bearings to be removed, tolerances do not need to be checked or reset.
