Questions and Answers – Amendment 2

1. Section 05120 section 1.2 Submittals dictate that the shop drawings will be stamped by qualified engineer. What are the parameters that need be met? Is there a door weight issue? Are there calc’s required? Connections will be duplicated from existing. Will they need to be re designed? See question 3 below.

**The parameters that need to be met are described in notes 8 and 9 on Sheet C‐1 of the drawings.

There are no known door weight issues, existing problems with the rails have been caused by door operator misuse and weathering. The only calculations required are those needed to achieve proper rails elevations and center‐to‐center dimensions. Connections will not need to be redesigned for those that currently exist.

2. Section 05120 part III section 3.1 paragraph c is for an engineer to check height / elevations. The last sentence suggests that the owner may employ a welding inspector. Is the elevation inspector owner supplied as well? Are there any shop inspections required?

**The elevation inspector is not owner supplied. Inspection of the doors and complete operating test will be made by the installer in the presence of the general contractor as soon as the erection is complete. Any defects noted shall be corrected.

3. There are no specifications for rail to cross tie connections. There is no way to know what is existing.

60 Lb rail has a tapered bottom flange that is 4 ½” wide. W6 x 15 flange width is 5.990” wide. Is there a bolt and connection detail? If not do we add a 1” flange and bolt accordingly? Will EOR provide?

**Bolted connections will be duplicated from existing. A 1" flange will not be necessary.

4. There are no hardware specs other than load indicator ASTM A 959. What size hardware? Squirter?

**Submit the hardware and direct tension indicators with your shop drawings as approved by your licensed qualified engineer.

5. At rail splice is continuous weld required?

**Yes, a continuous weld is required.

6. Will government provide centralized dumpsters at each hanger / building for all trash and recycled materials?

**The Government can provide a dumpster for recyclable materials ‐ other trash the contractors have to provide themselves.

7. Is there a specified finish?

**Concrete finish to be steel troweled and then sealed with a clear liquid chemical hardener.
