B. Crane Manufacturer is P&H, S/N: 11386. Crane Capacity is 30 Ton Main Hoist and 5 Ton Auxiliary Hoist. The contractor will be required to obtain any drawings they may require from a source (Kone Cranes) other than the WVA.
C. Contractor needs to be aware that due to age of crane, crane may contain asbestos wiring or insulation. Contractors will be responsible for removable/abatement of any asbestos found that will be affected by this upgrade.
D. Contractor will cover the cost of labor, equipment and materials for the upgrade/replacement of controls panels and cab controls.
E. Remove existing console and drum controls F. Install new enclosures for all functions that will not fit in existing room behind cab that currently contains old control systems.
G. Install one (1) new console using the JR Merritt (or equal) controllers one (1) for each motion (bridge, trolley, main hoist and auxiliary hoist) H. Provide and install two new panels, one for trolley and one for auxiliary hoist.
I. Upgrade/Replace contactors and wiring for other crane functions or replace with new panels depending on which is more economical. NEMA rated contactors mounted in NEMA 1 Indoor enclosures for all crane functions (Bridge, Trolley, Main and Aux Hoists). Ensure new controls provide the same range of controls as are no present
(four functions, 5 speeds, etc). Upgrade/Replace contactors and wiring. The power source to which the crane is 250 VDC. However, the equipment shall be tolerant enough of line fluctuations to operate normally at source voltages ranging from 225 to 275 VDC.
J. Provide and install new resistors and all associated wiring and conduits as needed.
K. Ensure that the current bridge brake system (GH506 Electro-Hydraulic) will work with the new controls.
L. Install ARC Suppressors on all coils of all functions.
M. Test all functions for correct operation. All equipment shall be operated through a complete lift and lowering cycle and through a complete travel of the bridge and trolley to determine that the equipment shall perform smoothly and safely. Any defects shall be corrected by the contractor without any expense to the WVA.
N. Load Test 30 & 5 Ton hoist on Crane, test at 125%. Use Test Weight, not waterbags. Price should include round trip transportation, on site costs and per-diem if required.

b. Provide a “turn-key, all inclusive” integration and installation of a complete digital radio remote-control system to permit full control of an existing 250 VDC bridge crane from a portable wireless transmitter.
Provide a “fail-safe” designed system so that the failure of any component or loss of signal will cause all crane motors to stop. The system shall permit complete, independent and simultaneous operation of all crane functions. Crane must remain operational from the existing cab when the radio remote control system is not in use, and vice versa.
Transmitter/Receiver
a. Portable NEMA 4 Transmitter complete with Adjustable belt or Harness, Magnetek Inc. Model MLTX2 series or equivalent.
