B108 Generator Q&A
1. Reusing the existing exhaust connection making sure it is the correct size and meets code requirements.
Would this change but up to the contractor? If so what is the size of the exhaust piping?
3 inch outlet
2. The fuel oil lines seem to look from the pictures to be underground. They also look to be unprotected. I could not see the actual connections to the tank but it appears that there is not an approved anti-syphon valve. Also I only see one oil line in the pictures.
Please advise on the above and provide more pictures as available. Please see additional pictures
3. I can not see the vent or the fill to the existing tank.
Please advise as this is a life safety issue on diesel tank installs. Please see additional pictures
4. I can not see the location of the oil tank in relation to the generator. I see a cement block wall that I am imagining is the secondary containment for the single wall tank.
However I can not see the whole containment.
Please advise on secondary containment and code requirements specifically for AHAJ Please see additional pictures. Currently meets all AF requirements
5. The other issue is I can see a floor drain near the generator. It is generally accepted practice to insure that oil can not contaminate public waters. I would suggest that we make a secondary containment around the generator pad so engine oil or fuel oil can not get in to the floor drain.
Please advise if this is acceptable as scope of work for the project
6. Fresh air louvers are to be reused and serviced. I do not know what that means and there are no pictures.
This is required to calculate airflow as older machines require less airflow than new machines. If there are any dimensions or further engineering on this it would be appreciated. 3’-10” w by 4’-4” h outside opening. Also see additional pictures
