OPS Doors RFI’s

ACQ Questions

1) Per the SOW "All ‘Best’ cores are to be reused." Are the cylinders to be reused as well, or the cores only?

A. Re-use both

2) If only the cores are being reused, will the control keys to remove the cores be provided by the facility or COR?

A. Yes

3) Please confirm, No work is to be done to any of the frames? Specifically paint touchup or cleaning to ensure a match with new doors.

A. Frames and doors are to be painted

4) Please advise if any of the following hardware are excluded: Door closers, handles, door stops, thresholds, hinges, kick plates, weather stripping, alarm sensors, Lock cylinders, lock hardware including deadbolts and Mortise locks. Any other hardware exclusions not listed?

A. Contractor is to provide all hardware that is necessary to make new doors function.

Contractor is to use industries standards when replacing the door. Government is not responsible for checking the provided list. All mean all.

5) Many of the doors had signage and decals. Is the contractor responsible to replace all of these in kind? Will digital format copies be provided if so, in order to facilitate ordering replacements?

A. Contractor is take off the existing signs and reattach to new door. Stickers will not be replaced.

6) Can a paint spec be provided for the blue doors at "Door #010 & #012 – Single Door Main Entry, Exterior"?

A. Refer to 2.1.1 to SOW. Match existing. Submit a submittal for approval.

7) For the course of the work can 1 door at a time be completely shut down to foot traffic during removal/installation or is that not possible?

A. Government does provide means and method. Contractor is to coordinate with customer.

8) Custom doors may have an extended lead time for fabrication. Will that be taken into consideration for the project timeline?

A. Government understands that there will be a lead time. Contractor will need to provide a construction schedule

9) A Bid bond is required. What is the percentage requirement for the bid bond?

A. The percentage required is 20%

10). The Aluminum doors must be by Kawneer, or can be by any other manufacturer as long as it meets the specs?

A. See Section 2.1.1. Door brand names are suggested but no required, but needs to meet the intent of the SOW.

11) Steel doors _ are you referring to 18 gauge hollow metal doors?

A. YES

12) Aluminum doors _ should be medium style, narrow style or wide style?

A. Medium Stile

13) Finish on the aluminum doors clear aluminum or bronze?

A. Base standard color is Urbane Bronze. Contractor shall match as close as possible if not the exact color

14) New steel doors are to be installed on existing frames or new frames? If existing frames to be used , please provide hinge locations for each door.

A. Existing frames to be used. See attached drawings.

15) Door #006 – Single Door Heritage Room, Single Kawneer 350 Aluminum/Glass Doors 2/3’0” x 7’0” x ¼”, Is this door a single door or double door ?

A. Single
