3 - Scintillation Detector - Scionix Model: V127AS152/5M-HV-Q-X, Large volume NaI(Tl) 127 x 127 x 152 mm detector with built-in Cockcroft Walton type PS1822/5 high voltage power supply and special MOLEX connector to be built to specifications. The estimated cost is $16,950.00 each.

9. Describe why the proposed vendor is the only vendor from which the requirement can be obtained. Examples of acceptable justifications include but are not limited to: sole manufacturer and seller, adherence to warranty provisions, urgency, etc. If other vendors can provide similar products or services, describe why they cannot meet our particular requirement.

The lab has developed a new (patented) technology to detect soil C and Cl in the field. The current prototype uses 8 Scintillation detectors. However, three of the Scintillation detectors on the prototype have failed and cannot be repaired. The replacement detectors must be the same as the failed detectors in order to function properly within the specialized instrument developed at our location. No other Scintillation detector would work with the other components of the instrument because of both physical dimensions and electron compatibility within the instrument. The listed vendor is the same company that produced the original Scintillation Detectors that is been replaced in this order. The listed vendor is the only company that can supply this specific detector.
