About this file

This document provides supplemental information for a federal solicitation seeking a total organic carbon analyzer. The solicitation requires an analyzer with high temperature combustion catalytic oxidation and non-dispersive infrared detection. The analyzer must be standalone or PC-controlled with a printer. It must also include an autosampler with a minimum 50 sample capacity using commercially available vials. The analyzer is required to analyze in total carbon, inorganic carbon, particulate organic carbon, and non-purgeable organic carbon modes with a measurement range of 0.050 mg/L to 1000 mg/L and reproducibility of 1.5% maximum coefficient of variation. Additional required capabilities include automatic dilution, up to 3 calibration curves, variable injection volumes from 10mL to 1000mL, automatic sample acidification and sparging, use of air or oxygen as carrier gases, data storage for 1000+ samples and 10+ calibration curves, and carrier gas problem detection. The related federal solicitation is issued by the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime seeking a TOC-LSCH system.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE: PURCHASE OF A TOTAL ORGANIC CARBON ANALYZER

THE EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

- HIGH TEMPERATURE COMBUSTION CATALYTIC OXIDATION WITH NON-DISPERSIVE

INFRARED (NDIR) DETECTION

- STANDALONE OR PC-CONTROLLED WITH PRINTER

- AUTOSAMPLER FOR AQUEOUS SAMPLES, WITH 50 SAMPLES MINIMUM CAPACITY, USING

COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE VIALS

- ANALYZE IN TC, IC, POC, AND NPOC MODES

- MEASUREMENT RANGE TC/IC FROM 0.050 mg/L TO 1000 mg/L

- REPRODUCIBILITY TC/IC/NPOC CV=1.5%MAX

- MATRICE COMPATIBLE FROM PURE WATER TO INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER AND

SEAWATER

- AUTOMATIC DILUTION, TO REDUCE SAMPLE ACIDITY, ALKALINITY, AND SALINITY,

EXTENDING THE PERIOD OF USE OF CATALYSTS AND COMBUSTION TUBE, AND

EXTENDING MEASUREMENT RANGE.

- UP TO 3 CALIBRATION CURVES CAN BE SET FOR SAMPLE MEASUREMENTS

- VARIABLE INJECTION VOLUMES 10ΜL TO 1000ΜL

- IC PRETREATMENT, SAMPLE ACIDIFICATION AND SPARGING BOTH PERFORMED

AUTOMATICALLY INSIDE THE ANALYZER

- CARRIER GAS: AIR OR OXYGEN

- 120 VAC

- NUMBER AND TYPE OF DATA SAVED: ALL MEASUREMENT RESULTS INCLUDING PEAK

DATA FOR 1,000 OR MORE SAMPLES, AS WELL AS 10 OR MORE CALIBRATION CURVES

- RINSING WATER: CAPABLE OF REPLACEMENT RINSING BY SAMPLE (RINSING WITH

SAMPLE), AND CLEANING BY RINSING WATER (ALSO USED AS DILUTION WATER)

- BLANK CHECK FUNCTION EVALUATES SYSTEM BLANKS BY MEASURING ULTRAPURE

WATER PROCESSED AUTOMATICALLY WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT

- CARRIER GAS PROBLEM DETECTION FUNCTION AVAILABLE
