Statement of Work: Variable Frequency Magnetic Resonance Imaging Console 1 Version 1.0 (2019) Double-click on for further assistance.

Use this document to detail the Statement of Work for services.

TITLE: Variable Frequency Magnetic Resonance Imaging Console Requesting Lab/Division/Group: Physical Measurement Laboratory, 686.08

General Statement of Need A magnetic resonance imaging console is needed to replace aging hardware in the Magnetic Imaging Group. The desired console should cover common spin-active isotopes from 0.5 T to 7 T.

This console should replace the radiofrequency amplifiers but make use of existing gradient power amplifiers and room temperature shim controller. Specifications of both are provided.

The requested console must have imaging sequences for routine imaging (gradient refocus echo, spin-echo, echo-planar imaging, T1/T2 relaxation) as well as a graphic interface for experimental planning.

Background The magnetic imaging group has a pre-clinical magnetic resonance imaging system that is nearing ten years old. The console which handles all of the radiofrequency pulses, data acquisition, and timing is reaching end of life and needs to be replaced. This system just have frequency flexibility as the system it will become part of provides reference measurements on materials that are incorporated into industrial and medical reference objects. This instrument should cover common spin-active isotopes from a magnetic field range of 0.5 to 7 T.

Objective(s) This acquisition is to acquire, install, and verify the operation of a magnetic resonance imaging console. The mission of NIST is to promote US innovation by advancing measurement science which will be achieved by refreshing the equipment of the magnetic imaging group to ensure its on-going capabilities in areas currently of interest to US industry including agriculture, medical imaging, and industrial processing.
