2022 – Kayenta Health Center: CCC Support Service
Author: Teresa L. Tsinnie, Supervisory Pharmacy Technician
Background The Contractor with Collating Control Center Robotic Prescription Dispensing system is used in the Kayenta Health Care Pharmacy to fill high- volume prescriptions for tablets and capsules. Prescriptions are entered into the RPMS computer by pharmacist or a technician. The data is then automatically transferred to the robot. The robot then selects the drug to be filled. It counts the specified number of tablets or capsules. It places the medicine in a prescription container. It then types a prescription label which conforms to all practice standards and federal requirements. It affixes the labels to the prescription containers. It then places the finished prescription container on an output conveyer belt where it is retrieved by a filling pharmacist or technician. It is then passed on to the checking pharmacist who verifies, per legal requirements, the accuracy of the prepared prescription product.
