Statement of Work

High Speed Framing Camera

General

The Air force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is looking to acquire a High Speed Framing Camera to aid in the research of fast phenomenon such as hypersonics, turbulent combustion, and ballistics testing of next-generation aircraft armor.

Minimum Requirements

It is desired that a high-speed framing camera system with the following requirements be purchased:

- Recording speeds of 5,000,000 frames per second at full resolution of 400 x 250 pixels

- On-board memory sufficient to capture 256 consecutive images

- High sensitivity (16,000 ISO) in the visible color spectrum

- No "ghosting." -- ghosting is a problem when residuals from previous frames linger in some high-speed cameras.

- Compatible with Nicon lens mounts

- Triggering capability: 5-V TTL pulse with minimum of two channels

- Support for common image types, e.g.: BMP, AVI, JPEG, TIFF

- Laptop PC with control software must allow for user supplied software.

- Operates with standard electrical power (120-V, 60-Hz AC)

-SEM will not have an annual cost of operation greater than $25K per year for the first 5 years; to include a contract for service, calibrations, repairs and travel. 1st year warranty will be included with the purchase, additional years will be available.
