Statement of Work (SOW) Project: NLAE Conference Room Shades
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: Replace existing inoperable skylight shades with similar product.
Contractor is to complete demolition of existing and replacement of new systems.
Contractor is to provide fabric samples to USDA Technical Point of Contact prior to installation for color/texture determination. New shades shall be motorized and adjustable for varying natural light levels. Existing vertical aluminum shades of the lower room windows will be replaced with new complementing shades with similar light blocking properties, these new shades shall remain manually operated. Shades need to operate at an angled orientation. The skylights are angled in the vaulted ceiling of the conference room. See ADDENDUM for pictures.
2.0 Background: The existing conference room was remodeled in 2000. The existing shades are either no longer working, partially working or stuck in various states of open/closedness. Current and proposed shades need to be room darkening/blackout.
The room is a mixed-use space. Conference room with enjoyable natural lighting and a media room for presentations that require room darkening/blackout.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
1) Skylight Shade System
a) Basis of Design, Draper Motorized FlexShade AC (other manufactures of similar product are substitutable).
b) Shade: Drive unit inside roller, 4-wire, instantly reversible, lifetime lubricated, adjustable limit switches, thermal overload protector and electric brake, operate on 110-120V AC, drawing 1.1 amps, spring-assist cassette to provide maximum tension.
c) Fabric: Venice Blackout Pearl, 100% Polyester, 12.39 oz/yd. Other materials substitutable. Location to select fabric color and texture.
d) Fabric Attachments: Fabric retainers slide into ¾” pockets at each end of fabric, fabric orientation shall always be from the top of the roller.
e) Guide Cables: 3/16” galvanized, non-coated steel cable with 3/16” copper Nicopress stop.
f) Draw Cable: 1/16” 7x7 strand wire rope, low-stretch, high-fatigue, nylon coated.
g) Fabric Support Stays: Horizontal spring steel stays, installed at regular intervals and covered, able to withstand reasonable air pressure differentials and gravity, some fabric sag is to be expected.
h) Skylight system is intended to be used in a large conference room / mixed-use space. Light blocking/blackout shades is a requirement.
i) Skylights are positioned at an angle. Motorized shades will need to be able to operate, open and close at an angle. Shades need to be adjustable/be able to stop at any position of open or close depending on lighting needs.
j) Window shades need to be of complementing color and fabric choices.
k) Window shades shall remain manually operated.
l) Window shades need to be light blocking/blackout the same as skylight shades.
2) Approximate window sizes: field verification by contractor is required.

b) (2) Windows: 50” x 96”
c) (2) Windows: 50” x 106”
d) (2) Windows: 50” x 47”

3) Housekeeping:
a) Conference room is a completed fully functioning conference room.
Contractors must ensure that the conference room is maintained in the current condition at the end of the project.
b) Contractor shall use tarping, masking or any other methods to minimize construction/demolition debris from covering the conference room.
c) The walls and carpet shall be protected from damage.
d) Any existing holes or penetrations that are not reused or left exposed due to new hardware shall be plugged/covered and painted to match or otherwise be unobtrusive.
4) Conference room:
a) The Government shall remove all tables and chairs from the conference room prior to work.
b) The conference room is a vaulted skylight ceiling. The use of scaffolding or a lift is required. One of the shorter lifts (6’ maybe) can navigate the building and make it through one of the conference room doors.
c) See conference room photographs in ADDENDUM.
4.0 Government Furnished:
1) Government will offer one or more (depending on scheduling) parking spots.
2) Government will offer use of a loading dock with a dock leveler.
3) Government will offer both a passenger and freight elevator to location of contract work. 3rd floor.
4) Work shall be performed during Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30 hours of operations. Excluding Federal Holidays. Work outside the previous time may be arranged with prior notification / agreement.
5) Site location is located on the 3rd floor of a 3-story building.
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule:
1) Demo work shall not begin until acceptance of new materials.
2) Work shall begin and be completed as a single phase in a continuous fashion and not broken into partial installations with weeks of downtime.
6.0 Security Requirements:
1) Location is a secured Government building.
2) Contractors must provide a photo identification and sign in at the front door on a daily basis.
