About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the acquisition of a fully automatic vibrotome, also known as a vibrating microtome or vibratome, to be used in sectioning non-fixed lung tissue to create precision cut lung slices for ex vivo infection studies. The SOW outlines the technical requirements for the instrument, including specifications for the blade holder, automatic feeding and retraction, vertical deflection, magnification, and other capabilities. The associated federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number 12505B24Q0164, is a request for quote (RFQ) seeking a Vibrating Microtome in accordance with the SOW. This is a Total Small Business set-aside acquisition with a NAICS code of 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing). The contract will be Firm Fixed Price, with award based on Lowest Price Technically Acceptable. Quotes are due by 2:00 PM Eastern Time on June 5, 2024, and the government anticipates delivery within 90 days of award.

Statement of Work Project: Vibrating Microtome or Vibratome
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work:
Acquisition of a fully automatic vibrotome (also known as a vibratome or vibrating microtome) to be utilized in sectioning non-fixed lung tissue to create precision cut lung slices.
2.0 Background: A fully automatic vibrotome (also known as a vibratome or vibrating microtome) will be utilized to section non-fixed lung tissue to create precision cut lung slices. The vertical deflection must be below 1 um and come with a measurement device to measure the vertical deflection to ensure viability. These slices will be used for ex vivo infection studies using bacterial pathogens in laboratories of the appropriate biosafety level.
