About this file

This statement of work outlines requirements for RNA sequencing services to support research on Hydrangea macrophylla. The Agricultural Research Service seeks a contractor to perform Illumina PE150 RNA sequencing on 288 samples of H. macrophylla to a depth of 6 gigabytes per sample, totaling an estimated 936 gigabytes of raw sequence data. Deliverables include data quality reports, raw sequencing files, and filtered reads. The contractor must provide sample quality control and deliver all raw data files via FTP or hard drive within 60 working days of DNA quality confirmation. Invoices will be submitted through the Invoice Processing Platform system. The period of performance is 60 working days from award. Technical and contracting representatives for the government are identified.

Statement of Work

FOR

RNA SEQUENCING OF HYDRANGEA MACROPHYLLA

June 1, 2023

STATEMENT OF WORK

A. BACKGROUND

Scientists at the Floral and Nursery Plants Research Unit (FNPRU) produce knowledge, techniques, and plants to support the long-term sustainability and profitability of the nursery and landscape industries. Hydrangea macrophylla is a valuable ornamental nursery crop that is impacted by powdery mildew disease. Understanding the genes responsible for disease tolerance will help scientists develop genetically resistant varieties. Illumina sequencing systems provide both the sequence coverage depth and low error rates necessary to represent the entire set of expressed genes from Hydrangea macrophylla.
