Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Portable steam generator

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: Purpose is to procure a portable steam generator on wheels for sterilization of soil, potting media, pots, and field tools. This steamer can generate 380 pounds of steam per hour.

2.0 Background: ATRU conducts research on plants, insects, microbes, and soils to promote plant health and conducts microbiological, molecular and biochemical testing and experiments that requires the ability to sterilize soils, potting media, surfaces, pots and tools. The steam generator will be portable and be able to be hitched to a truck, use diesel, run off 115 V, and generate 380 pounds of steam per hour. This steam generator will be used to sterilize soils in a high tunnel, pasteurize soils and potting mixes for experiments and sterilize pots, surfaces, and tools prior to planting.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks: Contract awardee must provide a steam generator with the following characteristics/capabilities:

• The machine should have a 3-pass dry back Scotch boiler capable of generating 380 pounds steam per hour and be ASME coded.

• The machine should have 427,000 BTU/HR input.

• The machine should require 115 V 60 Hz to run.

• The machine should be be capable of running on diesel fuel with a 36 gallon fuel tank.

• The machine should be provided with a steam hose, hose fitting connections, canvas steam sock (4’ x 100’) and steaming tarp (12’ by 100’).

• The machine should be capable of being hauled behind a truck on a highway with heavy duty axles, heavy duty pneumatic tires, ball coupler, safety chains, license plate bracket, LED taillights with wiring harness.

5.0 Deliverables / Schedule: The system should be delivered before August 31 for use.
