QUESTION 1: Network Identification: Internet Service Provider (ISP) must provide IP addresses used to identify the single subnet address in classless Inter-Domain Routing address specification (Network IP address /25) or equivalent, its subnet mask 255.255.128, and ISP Gateway IP address
1. The attendees wanted to have a clear meaning of the working (Network IP address /25). The Requiring office promised to look into this, and post answer on FedBizOps.
We require a /28 for our equipment plus some expansion. This language is on page 25 of the document. The language on page 27 covers the needs of the language on page 25, assuming the /28 is part of the /25. The language is clear that the ISP needs to provide us the network address with the correct mask.
QUESTION 2: Description 4.1 Contention Ratio Internet Channel. Two (2) shared Internet Channels. Digital bandwidth 512 Kbps (down/up). This circuit will require the ability to separate traffic on two separate VLANs so that two distinct types of data traffic can be provided with one wireless-to-fiber optic connection.
1. Attendee wanted a more detail explanation, which the requiring office promised to look into this, and post answer on FedBizOps.
This is not our requirement. We do not require a wireless connection. We also do not need VLANs (some carriers have tried to provide a Layer 2 interface with specific VLAN tagging and we’ve pushed back). There is language on contention ratio needing to be 1:1 (in other words, we get the full bandwidth and do not share it) but this is different.
QUESTION 3: Service Support and Contingencies: F. the circuit shall be completely transparent to the 1.544 mbps data, with no bit added to or deleted from the bit stream provided to the interface of the Department of State equipment. The circuit shall be supplied for the transmission of a multiplexed aggregate bit stream for the telegraphic and data signals. All other characteristics will be in accordance with International Telegraph and Telephone consultative committee (CCITT) specification
1. Attendee wanted a more detail explanation on the wording 1.544 mbps, which the requiring office promised to look into this, and post answer on FedBizOps.
This is legacy language. We require an RJ-45 10/100BaseT interface. This language is for a serial T1 connections. We no longer support serial connections of this type.
