About this file
The document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) set for the Springfield Fiber Infrastructure Solution project involving the Illinois Secretary of State's Office (ILSOS). The Q&A addresses five specific technical inquiries about the fiber infrastructure installation, confirming the presence of network racks at both project endpoints, an existing but non-direct riser stack, the need for some core drilling, and clarifying termination requirements. The responses indicate that ILSOS will provide racks, but vendors will need to supply LIU (Line Interface Unit) panels for the project.
The Q&A document complements the broader procurement details, which outline a fiber connectivity project between two government facilities at 2701 Dirksen Parkway and 501 S. 2nd Street. The contract is structured to run from execution date to June 30, 2028, with a maximum term of ten years. Vendors must be prepared to work in government locations with potential asbestos environments, though no asbestos abatement is required. The procurement will be conducted electronically through BidBuy, with bid submissions due by May 8, 2025, and award determined by the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Key project requirements include providing fiber strands, termination equipment, installation materials, and associated troubleshooting services, with an emphasis on modernizing the state's existing network infrastructure.
