The following have been modified:

SPECIFICATIONS OF WORK

A OVERVIEW: Temporary SUBMARINE HATCH VENTILATION ENCLOSURE (TSHVE) SYSTEM

1. PURPOSE: This (i) "Technical Specification" titled: TEMPORARY SUBMARINE HATCH VENTILATION ENCLOSURE (TSHVE) SYSTEM; in conjuction with (ii) the "Contract Drawing" (PS–29076 Revision B) titled: SUBMARINE HATCH VENTILATION ENCLOSURE, LARGE (SHVE–L[96"]); provides all the detailed technical requirements for a stand-alone Submarine Hatch Ventilation Enclosure (SHVE) commonly referred to as a large full-size Hatch House (SHVE–L[96"]). The full-size Hatch House shall provide, via the submarine's hatch or plug, personnel and utility access to the submarine's interior while simultaneously supplying either fresh outside air or exhausting stale, but relatively clean, inside air.

2. CONCEPT: The Temporary Submarine Hatch Ventilation Enclosure (TSHVE) phrase refers to an entire system. The TSHVE system consists of: (i) a ship's set of two each (2 ea) large capacity and full-size Submarine Hatch Ventilation Enclosures (SHVE–L[96"] × 2 ea) a.k.a. large full-size Hatch Houses.

3. DISCREPANCIES: Where there is a difference between the Technical Specification and either the Contract Drawing, this Technical Specification shall take precedence. However, the Contractor shall endeavor to clarify all inconsistencies with the cognizant Contracting Officer or the designate Contract Specialist.

4. ABBREVIATIONS: The slightly shorter expression Submarine Hatch Ventilation Enclosure (SHVE) includes all components that make-up a singular structure regardless of size (Small / Medium / Large) or scale (full-size or scale-model). For component identification and to differentiate from other sizes of Shipyard owned hatch houses (e.g. small –S & medium –M), the identifier shall be further shortened to Hatch Ventilation Enclosure (HVE) followed by the abbreviation for the particular component. For example, the Upper (Nesting) Roof can be identified as HVE–L[96"]–UPR-RF for the upper roof on a large full-size Hatch House. Military Standard 12D (MIL-STD-12D, dtd 15 June 1968 or later) titled: ABBREVIATIONS FOR USE ON DRAWINGS, AND IN SPECIFICATIONS, STANDARDS AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS can be used as a guide for determining a standard abbreviated identifier besides those previously determined in this specification.

5. PRICING: A proposal shall be proposed to the requesting contracting office based on a single order for the construction and purchase of six (6) large Temporary Submarine Hatch Ventilation Enclosure (TSHVE) systems consisting solely of the large full-size Hatch Houses. A single large TSHVE ship's set is defined as a quantity of two each large full-size Submarine Hatch Ventilation Enclosures (SHVEs). The proposal shall include delivery to the Government's destination of Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) within 26 weeks of an issued contract.

6. TERMINOLOGY: This Technical Specification (TS) uses the term "Contractor" as the one single party ultimately responsible for complying with the Contract. The term "Original Equipment Manufacturer or OEM" refers to manufacturers other than the Contractor for various complex devices or sub-assemblies that are critical components of the machine and hence, may include a separate Warranty, but, are not necessarily or at least directly responsible for meeting the conditions as set forth by the Contract (e.g. OEM of a fan or electrical components). The term "Vendor" can refer to parties other than the Contractor for such matters as for example shipping or maybe repair in case those responsibilities have been delegated or sub-contracted to others. Nevertheless, the Contractor shall ultimately be responsible for compliance with all specification requirements.

7. IDENTIFIERS: The Identifiers below shall be prominently displayed on the machine (see Section H, paragraph 5).

a. NNSY Machine Identifier – For the large (L) full-size (96") Hatch Houses ............ e.g. SHVE–L[96"]#1 and #2

b. ABC Machine Identifier – As determined by the Contractor (e.g. ABC, Inc.) such that the type, size, and the particular machine in the fleet as well as the OEM, type, capacity, and other characteristics of the air-handler can readily be identified by the Contractor.

8. SITE-VISITS: The Contractor is to expect, coordinate, facilitate, and accompany NNSY Federal and/or Contractor employees on their site visitations to the Contractor's manufacturing plant and/or administrative facility. These visits may occur to determine whether or not the Contractor is qualified to perform the terms of the Contract prior to its award, to observe various phases of construction, and/or to witness machine testing.

B DESIGN (SYSTEM CAPABILITIES): Temporary SUBMARINE HATCH VENTILATION ENCLOSURE (TSHVE)

SYSTEM

1. ALL SUBMARINE CLASS: The TSHVE system is designed to accommodate both the current Los

Angeles Class submarine (USS LA Class or SSN 688 Class) overhauled at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) and the upcoming Virginia Class submarine (USS VA Class or SSN 774 Class) that incorporate a logistic trunk or, for that matter, any class of fleet submarines currently in the Navy's inventory.

2. DRYDOCK / BERTH: The Hatch House can be deployed on top of a submarine either in drydock or at berth.

3. HATCH AREA & HATCH WORK: The interior space within the walled confines (a.k.a. Hatch Area) of this large size Hatch House is 7'-6" × 7'-6" (90 in² = 8,100 in²). The size of the Hatch Area (8,100 in² ÷ 3,136 in² = 2.58 times) will allow for work to be accomplished in-place on the top and bottom Hatches as well as on its mechanism and seating surfaces, thus, negating the extra labor necessary to remove, transport, and reinstall hatches. Besides the increase in the Hatch Area floor space, hatch work is also facilitated by a Rigging Beam & Trolley, a pneumatic tool manifold, multiple single phase electrical outlets, and bright industrial lighting. Past safety concerns has also been resolved from the increase in Hatch Area floor space by providing sufficient stand-off distances for ingress and egress.

4. LIFTING & HANDLING (L&H):

a. Internal – The Hatch House incorporates an Internal Hoist system consisting of a Rigging Beam with Trolley, side wall Beam Supports & Brackets, Pneumatic Manifold, and a Shipyard (NNSY) Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) pneumatic hoist. This internal L&H capability has a net capacity of two tons which is similar to the standard capacity for the Shipyard tool crib hoists.

The internal L&H capabilities of the Hatch House will greatly reduce the number of external crane lifts and external (submarine enclosure) hoist lifts.

b. External – The Hatch House accommodates external crane lifts and external (submarine enclosure) hoist lifts via its External Hoist system consisting of slideable nesting Roofs, a removable Front Wall, a sliding Front Wall Door capable of being latched to the OPEN position, and a removable Door Header.

5. LOW PROFILE: The mechanical and ventilation equipment is placed in back vice on top of the Hatch House. The resulting low profile allows for the Hatch House to be deployed within the confines of a whole ship's enclosure system (SHT / RSC) even if placed on top of a Logistics Trunk Platform (for USS Virginia Class sub). Operation and maintenance is also greatly facilitated from the low placement of the mechanical and ventilation equipment.

6. PROPORTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: Although the full efficacy of the TSHVE system as designed is for three Hatch Houses to complete a ship's set in which two are in Supply Mode and one is in Exhaust Mode, its effectiveness is proportional should circumstance dictate that the quantity of Hatch Houses available is less than a full ship's set.

7. USS VIRGINIA CLASS MULTIPLE DEPLOYED CONFIGURATIONS: For the USS Virginia Class submarine, the Hatch House can be deployed either directly ON–HULL on top of a hatch with a logistics type trunk in-place or slightly elevated OFF–HULL just above a hatch on a platform in any relative position with a logistics type trunk removed.

8. UTILITY ACCESS: Utilities can penetrate to the submarine's interior through various Side Wall Access Openings while the Hatch Area maintains a precisely determined static pressure and rate of airflow.

9. VENTILATION: Each Hatch House can either supply clean (a.k.a. fresh or outside) air (ambient from the internal air-handler or tempered from an external source) or exhaust stale, but relatively clean, inside air (from its internal air-handler or an external source) while simultaneously allowing for either personnel access to the submarine's interior or maintenance access for repair on a hatch or trunk.

The air-handler's Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) manual control in combination with the monitoring of pressure sensors allows the Hatch Area to act as a pressure chamber for holding a precisely set static pressure which translates to an airflow for supplying air or exhausting air, thus, enabling the ship's temporary Ventilation system to establish a rate for exchanging fresh air.

10. WEATHER PROTECTION: The Hatch House offers weather protection to the hatch mechanism and trunk as well as to the sub's internals when the ship is either at berth or uncovered in drydock.

B DESIGN (COMPONENT FEATURES): LARGE FULL-SIZE HATCH HOUSE (SHVE–L[96"])

1. ROOF SYSTEM: The roof system shall consis of two panels which slide rearward to expose the hatch area in order to support production work and rigging evolutions. The front Upper Roof and the back Lower Roof slide and nest one on top of the other via a Roof Mechanism. The Roofs, when nested in the COVERED position, provide weather protection to the Hatch Area. The Roofs can nest and then slide on top of the Machinery Area to the EXPOSED position so as to gain access to the Hatch Area by an external crane or external (submarine enclosure) hoist. Roof Clamps along the sides of the front Upper Roof (qty = 4: UPR RS Front / UPR RS Back / UPR LS Front / UPR LS Back) and along the rear of the back Lower Roof (qty = 2: LWR RS & LWR LS) are important components for sealing the pressure within the Hatch Area by locking the Roofs in place so that the Hatch Area can be pressurized (positive pressure for supplying air or negative pressure for exhausting air). Roof system shall be able to be operated via a hand cranked chain and sprocket system, with the roof panels moving on roller bearings.

2. RIGGING BEAM & TROLLEY: The Hatch House incorporates a removable Rigging Beam with Trolley designed for a two ton net load. The design net load is greater than the combined weight of the external and internal hatches, thus, allowing for simultaneous repair of both hatches while being supported by a single Rigging Beam. The Rigging Beam is upheld and slides fore and aft on 2"×4" tube steel Beam Supports & Brackets fastened to the top of the Left and Right Side Walls and, in-turn, the Trolley is suspended and slides left to right on the Rigging Beam, thus allowing the point of lift to be centered over the hatch, irrespective of the Hatch House position relative to the hatch. A second Rigging Beam with Trolley (borrowed from some other Hatch House or from spare units) can also be placed on top of the Beam Supports to accommodate two loads with different centers. A Government furnished (Shipyard) two ton pneumatic hoist will be attached to the trolley in the field and obtain its power from the Contractor furnished Pneumatic Manifold.

3. FRONT WALL SYSTEM: To accommodate Virginia Class submarine overhauls with its sixty inch diameter (60"Ø) removable logistics trunk, the Front Wall (system) (HVE–L[96"]–FR-WALL) has both bolt fasteners along the sides and sleeve tubes in its top corners for the insertion of shackle pins so that the entire wall can be removed by crane for unencumbered access to the Hatch Area by an external (submarine enclosure) hoist. To assist Los Angeles Class submarine overhauls with its thirty inch diameter (30"Ø) hatch, the Front Wall (system) has a removable Door Header and a sliding Door that can be latched to the OPEN (Right) position for a three foot wide access to the Hatch Area by an external (submarine enclosure) hoist. Since the access door must be easily opened manually as well as self-closing in spite of enormous pressures (either positive for Supply Air or negative for Exhaust Air), the Front Wall (system) has been designed with a sliding Door vice a swinging door. The sliding Door has the added benefit of unrestricted orientation for the Hatch House since little space is required fronting it.

4. PRESSURE SEALING SYSTEM SURFACES: The Pressure Sealing System surfaces allow utilities to penetrate to the submarine's interior through various Side Wall Access Openings while the Hatch Area maintains a precisely determined static pressure (air flowrate). The Pressure Sealing System surfaces are as follows: (i) two same Side Plates (for Left Side & Right Side); (ii) two same Side Seals (for Left Side & Right Side); (iii) four End Seals (two same Flat for Front & Back plus two same Curve for Front & Back); and (iv) six Access Panels plus six Access Boots (two same Upper for Left Side & Right Side plus two same Lower Front for Left Side & Right Side plus two same Lower Back for Left Side & Right Side). The Side Plates are raised or lowered along the Right Side and Left Side of the Hatch House until the Side Seals seat on its bottom surface (ship's hull or hatch platform). The Side Seals have a dual surface: ANGLED & FLAT. The ANGLED surface is for seating against a ship's hull and, in reverse, the FLAT surface is for seating against a hatch platform. The End Seals are raised or lowered along the Front and Back of the Hatch House until they seat on its bottom surface.

The End Seals have two versions: CURVE & FLAT. The CURVE version is for seating against a ship's hull and the FLAT version is for seating against a hatch platform. Access Panels shall seal when Access Openings are UNUSED (not penetrated by any utility line). Access Boots and/or Access Panels shall seal they are USED (penetrated by utility lines).

5. ELECTRICAL STATIONS: Four electrical stations provide ample lighting and single phase electrical power.

6. PNEUMATIC MANIFOLD: The Low Pressure Air (LPA) Pneumatic Manifold with its five each (or more) pneumatic tool female connectors accommodates the connection of a Government furnished

(Shipyard) two ton pneumatic hoist and facilitates powering pneumatic tools for use anywhere in the vicinity of the Hatch House.

7. SWIVELING LANDING PADS W/ TELESCOPING BACK LEGS: There shall be ten each (10 ea) swiveling type Landing Pads distributed five on each side of the Hatch House at the bottom of every vertical Support Beam/Leg (i.e. Leg). The swiveling feature of all Landing Pads allows the Hatch House to rest securely on either: (i) a flat surface such as the ground when stored or on a platform OFF–HULL when deployed on a Virginia Class submarine or (ii) a curve surface such as on the submarine's hull when deployed ON–HULL directly over a hatch. The two Back Legs shall have swiveling type Landing Pads that also telescope and rotate ninety degrees. The telescoping and rotating feature of the Back Leg Landing Pads allows the Machinery Area of the Hatch House to overhang the platform on a Virginia Class submarine in any orientation (such as overhanging starboard or port and forward or aft) or to any configuration (such as off-centered to any amount).

C AIR–HANDLER (GENERAL PURPOSE PACKAGED FAN): LARGE FULL-SIZE HATCH HOUSE (SHVE–

L[96"])

1. GENERAL: The air-handler shall be a centrifugal type General Purpose Packaged Fan (GPPF) utilizing a Backward Curved (BC) type wheel. The fan shall be single-width & single-inlet in Arrangement 10, capable of operating over the entire Class II range as defined in AMCA Standard 99-20408/N: "Operating Limits for Centrifugal Fans". Flat (PLR single thickness) blades are not acceptable because of the wheel's limited operating range on the back side (low volume) of the peak efficiency curve. Airfoil (AcoustaFoil double thickness hollow) blades are not acceptable because of the fan's operation within a marine industrial setting in which material build-up on the wheel would be expected. The fan shall be in compliance with the layouts shown on the drawing. Fan size, rotation, and orientation of the discharge shall be as follows:

Twenty-two inch (22") nominal size, counterclockwise (CCW) rotation, and the fan's discharge rotated twenty-two and a half degrees (22½º) midway between Up Blast (UB) and Top Angular Up (TAU) (Part number is GPPF: Size 22"–BC–15HP–CCW–UB-TAU or equat).

2. PERFORMANCE: Fan ratings shall be based on tests made in accordance with ANSI/AMCA Standard 210: "Laboratory Methods Of Testing Fans for Aerodynamic Performance Rating" in an accredited AMCA laboratory. Fans shall have a sharply rising pressure characteristic extending throughout the operating range to assure quiet and stable operation from wide open to closed off. Fan brake horsepower shall be equal to or less than 15 brake horsepower (BHP) at five (5.0) inches static pressure and 10,000 CFM at 0.075 lb / cu ft air density (at sea level).

3. SOUND: Fan manufacturers shall provide sound power level ratings for fans tested and rated in accordance with ANSI/AMCA Standard 301/N: "Methods for Calculating Fan Sound Ratings from Laboratory Test Data". Tests shall be performed in an accredited AMCA laboratory. Sound power ratings shall be in decibels (reference 10-12 watts) in eight octave bands. Sound power levels will be corrected for installation by the Contractor.

4. CONSTRUCTION: The fan housing shall be constructed of heavy-gauge rolled steel with continuously welded air-tight seams and flanged or rolled edges for rigidity. Lock seams or partially welded construction are not acceptable. Housing shall be reinforced with rigid bracing to increase structural integrity and prevent vibration. Housing shall include lifting eyes. The inlet cone shall be aerodynamically designed and spun providing minimum separation of air flow. Wheel diameters and outlet areas shall be in accordance with the dimensions adopted by ANSI/AMCA Standard 99- 2413/N: "Impeller Diameters & Outlet Areas for Industrial Centrifugal Fans".

5. BEARINGS Bearings shall be grease lubricated, precision anti-friction ball self-aligning, pillow block design. Bearings shall be designed for a long-life when rated at the fan's maximum cataloged operating speed.

6. SHAFT: All shafts (wheel & motor) are to be ASTM A-108 steel, grade 1040/1045, precision turned, ground, and polished. Grade 1018 steel is not acceptable. The shaft's first critical speed shall be at least 120% of the fan's maximum operating speed. The drive end of the fan shaft shall be counter-sunk for tachometer readings. Shafting shall be straightened to tight tolerances to minimize "run out" and ensure smooth operation.

7. FINISH: All fan surfaces to include accessories are to be thoroughly prepared prior to painting via a combination of washing and hand / power tool cleaning as deemed necessary. After cleaning, all surfaces are to be coated with an industrial grade coating. Surfaces of bolted components not accessible after assembly shall be coated and allowed to dry prior to final assembly. Primer only is not acceptable. Final color is MEDIUM GRAY.

8. BALANCE & TEST: The fan assembly shall be statically and dynamically balanced on precision balancers in accordance with ANSI/AMCA Standard 204/N: "Balance Quality and Vibration Levels For Fans". Wheel balancing shall be performed prior to assembling the fan (shaft, wheel, & housing).

Completed fans shall also be given a final balance check in the manufacturing facility for the specified range of running speeds in which the fan's vibration is demonstrated to be within allowable tolerances. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) shall issue a Balance & Test Report which, in turn, shall be provided to the Government via the Contractor.

9. INSPECTION: All fans shall receive a final inspection by a qualified inspector from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the fan prior to shipment. Inspection is to include: fan description and accessories, balance, welding, dimensions, bearings, duct and base connection points, paint finish, and overall workmanship.

10. FAN CURVE: The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) shall issue a Fan Curve based on the size of the fan and power of the motor that clearly depicts both the Fan Static Pressure (Y-axis) in inches of water gauge (in wg) as well as the Fan Input Power (Y-axis) in brake horsepower (bhp) as a function of the Volume Flow Rate (X-axis) in cubic feet per minute (cfm). The Fan Curve shall be provided to the Government via the Contractor.

C AIR–HANDLER (GPPF ACCESSORIES): LARGE FULL-SIZE HATCH HOUSE (SHVE–L[96"])

Specifically designed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the fan (e.g. The New York Blower Company®) in which the final interior and exterior surface of each accessory shall either be a high performance air dry epoxy paint or powder coat finish in a MEDIUM GRAY color, each air-handler (a.k.a.

fan) shall be furnished complete with the following acessories (General Purpose Packaged Fan: Size

22"–BC–15HP–CCW–UB-TAU):

NOTE: The sequential order and terminology used for the accessories listed below is similar to that provided by The New York Blower Company® in their Engineering Supplement (ES-053) order form dated June 2007 an example of which has been pre-filled and incorporated as the last sheet of this specification. Descriptions were developed from Bulletin 051 (dtd June 2006 or later) titled: GPA/GENERAL PURPOSE PACKAGED FANS.

1. CLEANOUT DOOR – QUICK OPENING (3 O'CLOCK): To facilitate inspection, cleaning, maintenance, or repair of the fan's centrifugal wheel assembly, the scroll housing for the centrifugal wheel shall be equipped with a quick-opening latch type cleanout door. The cleanout door shall swing open on hinges after turning two or more cam levers and shall be gasketed for a secure seal and to curtail vibration when closed. Position the cleanout door with the hinge at a lower elevation than the cam levers so that the door swings down when opened. Because the air-handler will be placed against the back wall of the hatch house, position the cleanout door on the housing scroll on the same side as the discharge so that the hinge is at the same elevation as the wheel's shaft when the fan's discharge is set midway between Up Blast (UB) and Top Angular Up (TAU) (CCW UB-TAU). This might be interpreted as roughly the 3 o'clock position when the air-handler is viewed from the same side as the drive shaft & motor.

2. DRAIN: To drain any residual moisture from the air-handler, a one and a half inch diameter (1½"Ø) welded tank flange type drain shall be located at the lowest elevation in the housing scroll with the fan's discharge defined as counterclockwise rotatable midway between Up Blast and Top Angular Up

(CCW UB–TAU).

3. DRAIN PLUG: A drain plug shall be provided with hose type straight threads matching the thread pattern (diameter & pitch) as the drain. The drain plug shall come with an appropriately sized gasket or O-ring.

4. FLANGED OUTLET: Angled rectangular flange shall be welded flush to the fan's (discharge) outlet and shall be provided with a defined hole pattern to match an available rectangular Outlet Companion Flange.

5. OUTLET COMPANION FLANGES (7 EA): Rectangular flange with a defined hole pattern shall match the Flanged Outlet for manufacturing the Durolon® rubberized-fiberglass removable Discharge Coupling between the Discharge Plenum Duct and Discharge Plenum Damper (4 ea), the inlet and a wye outlet (to attach the coupling) for the Disharge Plenum Duct (2 ea), and for a Discharge Plenum Damper Flange to attach the coupling (1 ea).

6. SHAFT SEAL – CERAMIC-FELT: Multiple ceramic-felt seal elements compressed between a metal backing plate and a retaining disc shall be provided. The elements can be split for field maintenance.

7. FLANGED INLET: Angled ring or circular flange welded flush to the fan's (suction) inlet collar shall be provided with a defined hole pattern to match an available circular Inlet Companion Flange.

8. INLET COMPANION FLANGES (5 EA): Circular ring or flange with a defined hole pattern shall match the Flanged Inlet for manufacturing the Durolon® rubberized-fiberglass removable Suction Coupling between the fan's scroll housing and Suction Plenum Duct (4 ea) and for a Suction Plenum Duct Flange to attach the coupling (1 ea).

9. POSITIVE SCREW ADJUSTMENT: Two threaded rods shall provide elevation adjustment of the motor platform for controlling the tension between the motor shaft's V-belt pulleys and the wheel shaft's V-belt pulleys.

10. WEATHER COVER / BELT GUARD: To completely enclose the motor and drive assembly for protection from the elements and for safety purposes, the Weather Cover / Belt Guard shall be an all steel assembly in several pieces for ease in removal for inspection or maintenance. Panels shall be louvered to allow for motor ventilation.

11. VIBRATION ISOLATION RAILS – SPRING: To minimize the transmission of vibration to its mounting structure, spring-type isolation rails shall be attached along the entire perimeter (full length × full width) of the flanged base.

12. V-BELT DRIVE – CONSTANT SPEED: The wheel's rotation via the V-belt drive shall be established for a constant maximum speed as dictated by the motor's maximum RPM at a frequency input of 60 hertz.

The Variable Frequency Motor Speed Control will determine the motor's & wheel's final rotation speed via a frequency change.

13. MOTOR REQUIREMENTS @ 15 HP: The fan motor shall be foot-mounted, NEMA Design B, TEFC premium duty industrial, continuous duty, ball bearing, direct-drive, variable torque type suitable for operation on 460 volt / 3 phase / 60 hertz power. Motor bearings shall have a minimum Class II life, as defined by AFBMA, of at least 750,000 hours. The motor is external to the scroll housing in which the base shall be made of heavy gauge steel supported by gussets that extend to the foundation flange so as to assure structural stability.

D VENTILATION (SUCTION PLENUM): LARGE FULL-SIZE HATCH HOUSE (SHVE–L[96"])

As depicted in the Contract Drawing (PS–29076 Rev B) , the Suction Plenum Duct (HVE–L[96"]–SP-DUCT) has a nominal two foot width, this duct width was developed from a former narrower hatch house design (86" W). The current hatch house design is ten inches wider (96" W). The Suction Plenum can either be widened or shifted to the Left side of the Hatch House or the door hinged on a flange (as shown) or a combination thereof so that the Suction Plenum Door can be latched flat against the Left inside wall when opened to maximize the interior space within the Hatch Area. Maximum interior space is most critical for when the hatch house is deployed on top of a Virginia Class submarine with a hatch platform substituted for its hatch plug. The Suction Plenum acts as a bi-directional duct bypassing the built-in fan's intake when connected to an external air-handler (supply or exhaust).

1. SUCTION PLENUM DOOR & SCREEN: The purpose of the Suction Plenum Door (HVE–L[96"]–SP-DR) is three-fold: (i) Exhaust Mode – internal or external, to provide a path for the airstream to exit the Hatch Area to a fan's suction inlet; (ii) Supply Mode – external, to provide a path for an external (tempered) airstream to enter the Hatch Area bypassing the fan's suction inlet; and (iii) to provide access for maintenance purposes. The Suction Plenum Door shall be braced for rigidity; have a continuous hinge along its side; include a latching mechanism & design to lock with no vibration in the OPEN postion while abutting flat against the Left interior wall; and for Supply Mode – internal, include a latching mechanism to lock the door in the CLOSED position. From the fan laws, the volume flowrate is directly proportional to the fan speed and, correspondingly, power is proportional to the cube of the fan speed. For example, a twenty percent reduction in flow rate or fan speed translates to necessitating only half the usual power ([0.8]3 = 0.512). A reverse phase relay is not required nor desired for VFD motors, however, the VFD control shall have a jog button so as to verify correct rotation of the fan wheel. An arrow shall depict the proper fan rotation direction.

a. Access Boots – Manufacture access boots by applying appropriate adhesive and then the boot's material (PC–28) between two each (2 ea) flanges. The flanges shall be riveted together in which the rivets shall be spaced between pre-drilled or to be drilled mounting holes and the rivets shall be flush on the side facing the Hatch Area of the Hatch House. A cinch cord w/ heavy-duty metal cord lock shall be affixed to the boot's end.

b. Roofs – The Upper (front) Roof and the Lower (back) Roof are sealed over the Hatch Area in the COVERED position via four Upper (F&B / L&R) and two Lower (L&R) Roof Clamps. The Roofs shall be capable of nesting one on top of the other and then sliding onto the Machinery Area into the EXPOSED position for access to the Hatch Area by an external hoist or crane.

5. STOWAGE: Except for the Suction Plenum Caps, this drawing does not detail the methods, means, location, manner, nor hardware for stowing the various accessories that may not be in use and hence, not attached for a particular evolution. Accessories to have a defined stowage position on its Hatch House are as follows:

a. Seals – flexibility to stow a single pair (both Front & Back) of either the Flat End Seals or Curve End

Seals;

b. Access Panels & Boots – stowage for a complete set of all six Access Panels and all six Access Boots;

and

c. Electrical Cable – To facilitate stowage of the fifty feet (50') of 100 ampere rated (100 A), No. 2 All
