About this file

This document is a Requirements/Specifications document for a federal contract opportunity issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The Division of Spectrum Technology and Research at NIST is seeking to acquire 3 ruggedized, GPU-accelerated software-defined radios (SDRs) to support their research and field experiments on wireless data networks. The SDRs must meet detailed technical specifications including transmit/receive ports, frequency range, sampling bandwidth, environmental operating conditions, power requirements, and integrated computing hardware with GPU acceleration. The contract opportunity has a brand name reference to "Deepwave Digital" and is a 100% small business set-aside solicitation. Responses are due by the close date specified, with instructions for submitting quotes electronically to the contracting officers.

Requirements / Specification Document TITLE: Ruggedized GPU-Accelerated Software-Defined Radios

Requesting Laboratory / Division / Group:

Communications Technology Laboratory Spectrum Technology and Research Division Applied Systems Metrology Group (675.01)

General Statement of Need:

The Spectrum Technology and Research division is undertaking research and field experiments dealing with outdoor measurements produced by wireless data networks. This requires receivers that can perform real-time digital signal processing (DSP) with low power consumption in conditions that may involve precipitation or harsh temperatures. To this end, the division seeks to obtain ruggedized software-defined radios (SDRs), each accelerated by a graphical processing unit (GPU) for fast real-time computation. The integration of these capabilities into a prepackaged product, together with tight integration into the python numerical computing ecosystem, gives NIST the ability to implement its field studies with a rapid response for emerging national needs in wireless spectrum.
