SPECIFICATIONS
Alfalfa Hay Spring FY22
1. Introduction: Scientists at the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) are developing scientific information and new technology to solve high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries. About 50 percent of the effort is with beef cattle, 30 percent with swine, and 20 percent with sheep. Alfalfa hay is used to feed for these animals.
2. Scope: The Contractor shall provide the alfalfa hay in the description and quantity listed.
3. Technical Requirements: 2000 tons of alfalfa hay. Specifications: Round or Square bales of Grinding Quality Alfalfa with a minimum of 16% crude protein and a Total Digestible Nutrients (%TDN) between 55-60% or better. Alfalfa hay should be of the 2021 or 2022 crop year and should not be moldy or foul smelling. Alfalfa hay that does not meet the above specifications will be rejected. Alfalfa hay must be delivered to USDA/ARS/USMARC; Clay Center, NE and USMARC personnel will unload the hay bales. Truck drivers will need to coordinate with USMARC personnel on delivery times and schedules but normal hours of 7:00am -3:30pm Monday-Friday are anticipated. A scale ticket showing gross, tare, and net weight is required on every load delivered. A State of Nebraska certified scale is located on USMARC facilities and can be used for obtaining weights. Delivery is anticipated to start upon contract award and must be completed in full by 11/1/2022.
