SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Equipment must be new, unused, and the manufacturer's current production model.
2. Equipment must meet all specified salient characteristics listed below.
ITEM DESCRIPTION
The USDA-ARS Eastern Regional Research Center requires an R&D pot still system needed for the separation of ethanol from residual dairy co-product following the fermentation of waste ice cream with yeast. Systems quoted should include a pot still, fermentation tank and mash cooker. Brand name or equal: Vendome Copper and Brass R&D Still System.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
The following salient characteristics must be met by any offered equipment:
Design and Operational Requirements:
· System which will allow for scaling up fermentation and distillation processes to pilot plant scale not exceeding 50 gallons
· Pot still (30-50 gal) Stainless steel lower pot with steam jacket
· copper dish top with stainless and glass manway
· Copper distillation column with minimum of 4 trays (plates) with dephlegmator
· Optional copper onion (serves as an extra plate)
· Stainless steel shell and tube condenser
· Spirit safe
· Stainless steel automatic agitator for pot still
· Mash cooker (30-50 gal) stainless steel construction with cooling jacket and top mounted agitator (closed top conical bottom)
· All necessary nozzles, piping, gauges and safety devices
· Fermenter (30-50 gal) stainless steel with cooling jacket (opened top conical bottom)
