DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION

STATEMENT OF WORK

For AMO Services AeroSimulators Gimbal Imaging System Trainer (GIST) Software Update June 11, 2021

1.0 BACKGROUND

The Office of CBP Air and Marine is responsible for the interdiction of illegal contraband, persons, and serves as the first line of defense against terrorism. With the ever-increasing mission tempo, additional platforms and an ever-changing operational environment, CBP Air and Marine needs to procure new equipment to support its mission.

With the increase in air/marine personnel and training requirements, the new equipment is needed to meet all the needs of the agency and training requirements. CBP has over 75 aircraft with an Avalex moving map and Electro-Optical imaging systems installed. AeroSimulators integrates both systems so pilots and sensor operators can train in a classroom setting prior to inflight training. Secondly, mission scenarios can be developed and practiced prior to a mission. This simulator decreases flight training hours and ground power times, resulting in less wear and tear on aircraft, subsequently improving mission flight hours and effectiveness.

The GIST is a standalone, mobile trainer that can be shipped to any unit or branch to train personnel expected to use the systems onboard CPB/AMO aircraft. Trainees will be able to access particulars about each system and develop a greater sense of systems installed onboard CBP/AMO aircraft.
