Revision 1

Statement of Work for

C3-100 Software Upgrade

1.0 SCOPE: The contractor shall provide an upgrade to the current Tovey C3-100 Automated

Vertical Force Press software. This upgrade shall include enhanced load cell safety features, descending hysteresis compensation, and improvements for Non-Load Cell calibrations. An additional software may be provided

2.0 LOAD CELL SAFETY: The upgraded software shall include the following:

2.1 Prior to a loading sequence, the program ensures that the maximum test point does not exceed capacity of the TI.

2.2 Prior to a loading sequence, the program ensures that the maximum test point does not exceed capacity of the standard.

2.3 Prior to a loading sequence, the program ensures that there are no communication issues with the analog output board used for control.

2.4 Prior to a loading sequence, the program ensures that there are no communication issues with the analog input board used to monitor feedback voltage.

2.5 Prior to a loading sequence, the program ensures that the 9150 standard channel measurement is between ± 0.5 mV/V (could indicate the standard is not connected or has been damaged).

2.6 Prior to a loading sequence, the program ensures that the 9150 standard channel voltage feedback does not exceed 0.5V (could indicate the feedback cable is not connected).

2.7 Any of the conditions from paragraphs 2.1 through 2.6 shall cause a dialog box to be displayed to alert the operator of the problem. The operator shall troubleshoot and fix the problem before the program will allow a loading sequence to begin.

2.8 Pre-Exercise

2.8.1 The software shall perform a 10% of full scale capacity check at the beginning of an exercise cycle. If the software calculates that the unit under test will exceed 110% of full scale output during the exercise cycle then a warning box shall be displayed. If the software calculates that the unit under test will exceed the specified overload output during the exercise cycle then a warning box shall be displayed and the operator will not be allowed to continue. The same safety feature shall be implemented in the calibration routine at each test point.

Revision 1

2.8.2 When the unit under test is not connected to the 9150, the operator is prompted for the reading at the 10% point at the beginning of the exercise cycle. The operator shall input in the readings from the instrument.

2.9 In addition to requiring the operator to input their initials into the pressure pop up box, the software shall also require the operator enter the standard serial number. The standard serial number inputted by the operator must match the setup information to continue.

2.10 Once the cage has been lifted, the approach rate shall be reduced to provide more time for the operator to enter the zero data.

3.0 DESCENDING HYSTERESIS COMPENSATION

3.1 Labs with the C3-100

3.1.1 The upgrade shall include a feature to compensate for the error seen when a CS Series load cell is used for a descending calibration from a load other than maximum capacity.

The feature shall recognize this situation based off the calibration information already provided to the software: Standard Load Cell capacity, TI capacity, descending load sequence. The feature shall automatically calculate the correct coefficients for the situation and apply them to the calibration. The coefficients shall be calculated as demonstrated in the excel file provided by AFMETCAL, or in a method that is equivalent to this excel file.

3.2 Labs without the C3-100

3.2.1 The feature described in paragraph 3.1.1 must also be available for operators who have the 9150 and CS Series load cells but do not have the C3-100. This feature can either be incorporated into the existing Tovey software and made available to these labs or it can be a stand-alone application.

3.2.2 The operator shall be able to connect the 9150 to the feature through USB and download the compensated coefficients to the 9150.

3.2.3 There shall be a way for the operator to identify which curve is loaded into the 9150 when selecting the load cell within the 9150.

3.2.4 This feature shall display the following minimum information:

3.2.4.1 File name as seen in the 9150 indicator

3.2.4.2 Load Cell Serial Number

3.2.4.3 Load Cell Calibrated Capacity and Calibration Data

Revision 1

3.2.4.4 Load Cell Compensated Capacity

3.2.4.5 Calculated Coefficients and Compensated Calibration Data Chart

4.0 NON-LOAD CELL CALIBRATION

4.1 Setup Unit Under Test Info Menu: The only information that is needed is the Serial

Number, Model Number, Capacity, Tolerance, Operator, Temperature, Humidity, and

Notes. Any other information inputs shall be able to be left blank.

4.2 Report: The reporting section of the software shall have an option for a simplified calibration report. This report includes Standard identification information, TI identification information, date, operator, temperature, and humidity. A report chart shall include the intended test point (lbf), standard indication (lbf), TI indication (operator selected), Normalized TI indication (operator selected), and error between the standard indication and the TI indication.

4.3 Any Error Columns present in the software need to be clearly labeled as to what kind of error is being reported. For example, the current error column in the software needs a label indicating that it is a linearity error. It is often mistaken as the error between the standard indication and the TI indication.

5.0 MANUALS

5.1 An updated Software User Manual and Final System Manual shall be provided.

5.2 Any other relevant manuals shall be provided.

6.0 WARRANTY: All software shall be covered by a 1 year warranty.

7.0 DISTRIBUTION: AFMETCAL will handle the distribution of the software to the

PMELs. 31 PMELs shall receive the software upgrade for the C3-100. All 65 PMELs shall receive the 9150 download utility as described in paragraph 3.2.
