About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of a high-resolution digital microscope platform for metallurgical characterization at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama.
The microscope system must deliver 4K-class imaging with magnification ranging from 5x to at least 2500x using motorized zoom optics, real-time image capture at 30-50 frames per second, and telecentric high-resolution lens options supporting wide depth-of-field imaging. Required image processing and analysis capabilities include automated illumination optimization, 3D surface characterization using optical methods, high-resolution image stitching up to 100,000 × 100,000 pixel composites, automated image comparison tools for defect identification, and dimensional measurement tools traceable to supplied calibration artifacts. The mechanical system must feature a fully motorized XY stage with at least 300 mm travel capability for large samples and wafers, a stable vibration-free platform, precision Z-axis movement for fine focus control, and automated depth composition. The system requires an integrated operator control console enabling full operation without a separate computer, a 27-inch 4K display, and an intuitive user interface supporting rapid magnification changes and automated workflows. Procurement includes shipping and delivery to Building 4602 Room 1121 at MSFC, with delivery required within 4 to 6 weeks after order receipt. A minimum five-year manufacturer warranty following installation is required.
