About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the NASA ER-2 project requiring updated Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment for hydrazine response operations. The equipment must be inspected, serviced, and recertified annually by a qualified vendor, with current equipment due for recertification in April 2026.

The SCBA equipment must be directly compatible with US Air Force Fire Department SCBA systems to enable cross-utilization, spare parts access, and air bottle refilling at the AFB Fire Department Host Station. Key technical specifications include NIOSH certification under 42 CFR Part 84 for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) protection; Universal Emergency Breathing Supply System (UEBSS) capability; 4500 psig operating pressure with a minimum 45-minute duration; single rechargeable battery power source for all components; a Heads-up Display (HUD) facepiece showing cylinder air volume remaining; and a mechanical bell alarm mechanism for low air cylinder pressure indication. The equipment must be delivered to NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, Building 4876 Warehouse #6, Lilly Drive, Edwards, California 93524, and is needed no later than March 13, 2026. The point of contact is Alberto Rodriguez.
