STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements

NASA Langley Research Center requires the purchase of two (1) MTS FlexTest 40 Controllers and one (1) MTS Eight Channel Analog Input Board for the Materials Research Lab within the Research Directorate for the Durability Damage Tolerance and Reliability Branch (DDTRB).

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

Description Qty

1.0 MTS FlexTest® 40 Controller

The MTS FlexTest® 40 Controller is a reliable, versatile and easy-to-use servocontroller. It provides real time closed-loop control, with transducer conditioning and function generation to drive various types of servo-actuators, and supports a wide array of configurations including: axial and axial/torsional load units, uniaxial and multiaxial test systems, structural test actuators and electrodynamic systems. These controllers are easily re-configurable and provide the ability to re-assign hardware allocation without having to move things around in the chassis. Also, the processors are field-upgradeable, making it simple to add capacity when necessary.

•Digital Universal Conditioners (DUCs) accommodate a wide range of transducers, including AC and DC devices •Broad array of conditioning modules provides increased flexibility •Modular hardware design allows for more flexible management of control resources •Optional compensation techniques optimize control, even for challenging tests and difficult specimens •Excitation sensing verifies proper voltage to the transducer, regardless of cable length •Excitation loss detection minimizes the chance for errors in the event of cable breaks •Includes MTS Series 793.00 Control Software •Includes dual analog output adapter cable •Product Manual(s): 100187204, 100147130, 100162928, 100147132

The PC hosts the control software and associated applications, and is optimized to provide a fast, stable, real-time interface to the digital control system. The hardware and software components on these PCs are curated by the same engineering groups that designed the controller, leveraging MTS's unique application expertise. MTS recommends these computers be used solely for test system-related activities, to maximize available processing power and ensure long-term software stability for years of reliable operation.
