About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA's requirement for a motor controller system from Motiv Space Systems for the DOPPLER and Lateral Stabilization Methods (LSM) projects. The procurement involves a DELTA EDU five-axis motor controller system with specific technical specifications, including 4 axes concurrent control, RS-422 communications, 28VDC nominal operating voltage, compatibility with 3-phase BLDC and stepper motors, and a compact 3"x3"x4.5" package volume weighing 1.0 kg.

The SOW specifies delivery of one unit of program management services and one EDU Delta Controller within 12 weeks after order receipt to NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The controller must include original inspection and test reports, user documentation, and technical manuals. No technical or progress meetings with NASA are requested. The system is designed to interface with Q7 flight computers and Maxon Precision Motors, serving as a critical component for path-to-flight engineering development in NASA's lunar environment projects.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 Introduction/Background:

The NASA LaRC Deployable Observatory for improved Payload-to-Partner Line-of-sight in the Lunar EnviRonment (DOPPLER) project and STMD Lateral Stabilization Methods (LSM) task require a motor control system capable of operating multiple axes through a single integrated unit. The projects demand a flight-heritage controller that can interface with selected flight computers such as the Q7 from Xiphos Systems Corporation and brushless direct-current (BLDC) motors from Maxon Precision Motors, Inc.

2.0 Scope of Work: This SOW covers the procurement of a Motiv DELTA EDU motor controller system and related assistance services to be used for a path-to-flight design of the DOPPLER engineering development unit (EDU). The controller to be delivered as a complete integrated system shall be in ready-to-operate condition to serve as the motor control interface between the Q7 flight computers and the Maxon motors.

3.0 Objectives: The U.S. distributor/contractor shall deliver the listed products in accordance to the specifications listed and under the tolerances outlined.

4.0 Description of the Work/Contractor Tasks:

The U.S. distributor/contractor shall deliver to NASA the following motor controller products and assistance services listed on Table 1. This shall be produced with the specifications listed and under the tolerances referenced:
