What is Trypan Blue/Buffer and what hazard category does it fit into?
GHS08 with a Hazard statement of H350 and a precautionary statements
What is the chemical composition of the “silver stain” bulk waste stream? Silver nitrate, ammonium nitrate, glycerol, water, methanol, Tungstosilicic acid hydrate, formaldehyde
What are the hazardous constituents in your High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) waste? This varies and is dependent on the molecule which in being analyzed. Over 90% of all of the HPLC waste streams contain, methanol (20-80%) and acetonitrile (20-80%) and Trifluoracetic or formic acid ( 0.1-3%---Trifuoro and formic acid wastes are contained separately but both contain both methanol and acetonitrile. There are times where additional constituents which are considered hazardous are also contained in the acetonitrile/methanol base mixtures—examples: copper, acetic acid, Betamecaptoethanol, isopropanol, but again it will be dependent on the molecule being analyzed as to the total constitution of the waste.
What is the maximum solids content in your various bulk flammable liquid waste? That varies, the solid waste which is flammable mainly comes from the residuals of what is left in the injection vials or from the clean up of a flammable spill.
Is the broken glass waste stream considered biohazardous? Generally speaking for the VPP, no.
You have listed a “vehicle charge” – what type of vehicle is covered under this line item? If applicable
What is the “scale fee” for – the only item being charged per pound is the bio waste filters? Bio-waste filters if applicable
You indicate 2 medical waste pickups per week which would amount to 104 pickups per year but there is no line item indicating 104 pickups. Please clarify. The twice weekly pick up fees have been built into the disposal/ supply fees through the course of the contracts. The three labs entities reside at the 9 West facility and the 2x/week pick up is for the entire facility (labs).
Are all 3 pickup locations at the same address? Yes
Is any of the waste under this contract regulated by DEA? No
Will the Government load the drums of waste onto the back of the hazardous waste transportation vehicle? No
Does the Government require that the contractor removing and accepting the waste be a State and USEPA Licensed Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF)? Yes
Is this an ongoing contract and if so who is the incumbent contractor and what was the last contract dollar amount? EMSI
File details come from the government source that posted it.
