About this file

This document is a request for quotes solicitation issued by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases seeking an Illumina NextSeq-2000 sequencing platform. The solicitation requests delivery as soon as possible, with an estimated lead time of 60-90 days from date of award. Quotes are due by September 15th, 2022 and award is estimated to occur between September 30th and December 31st, 2022. The sequencing platform will be used to support RNA expression profiling projects investigating markers predictive of HIV susceptibility and COVID research. The requirement outlines technical specifications including sequencing quality scores and flow cell options. The sequencing platform must integrate with BaseSpace Sequence Hub for data storage, analysis and sharing. Evaluation will be based on technical acceptability, price and past performance.

Statement of Needs

1. Must be able compatible with VRC’s established sequencing protocols, such as DNA/RNA library prep and data analysis, which have taken a substantial amount of time and resources to validate.

2. Must have the highest sequencing quality data: >85% Q30 and >90% Q30 quality scores for 2x50 bp and 2x150bp, respectively.

3. Must have eight (8) flow cell options, ranging from 100M to 1.2B reads and 30 to 360 Gb.

4. Must incorporate Dry Instrument Design: all reagent fluidics are contained in the disposable reagent cartridge, resulting in zero run-to-run contamination, less maintenance and no washes.

5. Must have an On-board DRAGEN Server, or equivalent: on-board BCL to FASTQ conversion, lossless data compression, and secondary analysis pipelines for RNA-Seq, differential expression, enrichment, scRNA-Seq and others.

6. Must have a small footprint: 60 x 60 x 65 cm (HxWxD) or 23.6” x 23.6” x 25.6”
