Near Infrared Scanner System (NIRS)
Required Minimum Specifications:
• Compatibility to store, sort, read, analyze and manipulate data, calibrations, and prediction equations previously collected on an existing NIRS without requiring to re-process samples and reprocess wet chemistry data beyond one small (n<100) set of check samples
• Compatibility with existing sample cups owned by the research unit.
They are the container that holds the ground sample for scanning. These containers have an optically clear quartz side and a solid cap side. Of important note is that they are reusable and are designed to hold a fairly small sample (approx. 1-2 tsp).
• Be able to provide direct scan measurements of soils, feed, forage, grain, dairy products. Be able to scan both ground and unground material (i.e., processed and unprocessed samples)
• Include operating software that allows end user to obtain and manipulate sample scans
• Include software that allows end user to manipulate data, run statistical analyses, create calibration sets, create equations and perform sample predictions
• Scan capability of 400-2500 nm, optical bandwidth of 8.75+/-0.1nm, resolution of 0.5nm
• Utilize detectors silicon 400-1100nm and lead sulfide 1100-2500nm
• Analysis time of <1min
• Absorbance range of up to 2AU
• Wavelength accuracy of <0.05nm
• Be a stable platform in varying environments (5 to 40C <93% humidity) and dust protected
• Be suitable (but not REQUIRE) for local area and wide area network for operation or data analysis
• Be 100% functional as a stand-alone operational system not requiring access to cloud data storage and/or analysis software
• Operate in a Windows 10 Enterprise environment
• Include computer hardware (CPU/Monitor) from a non-Lenovo branded system
• Be able to provide in person classroom-based training that is specific to the model by company trainers to instruct end users on data collection and manipulation as well as maintenance on the physical machine
• Include set up and on-site training to transfer data to new system from old
• All equipment shall be new “off the shelf”, not refurbished, and composed of standard equipment requiring no further research or development and shall be of current production
• Vendor must be able to provide online/phone support during normal business hours with a response time within 24 hours
• Vendor shall have capability to provide global calibrations of some products in forage analyses (i.e., protein, NDF, ADF, ash, starch, crude fiber) to research projects
• Equipment support/guaranteed spares available for a minimum of 7 years
