NESP Navigation Systemic Mitigation Island 4 / Pool 4 Federal contract opportunity
Solicitation number
W912ES23B0004
Issued by
Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District St Paul

About this file

This document provides hydrologic information and elevation data for the Upper Pool 4 region of the Mississippi River in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The hydrographs and duration curves presented were derived from 10 to 85 years of water level observations from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers gages at Lock and Dam 3 on the Mississippi River and in Lake Pepin. The data spans from 1912 to 2021 and is intended to inform contractors' understanding of water surface elevations and flood risks in the project area.

The related federal contract opportunity is for construction of a new island with granular and fine fill materials in Upper Pool 4 of the Mississippi River near Bay City, Wisconsin. The selected contractor will place riprap along the shoreline to protect the island and plant willow cuttings and establish turf vegetation as specified. The opportunity was issued by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District under solicitation number W912ES23B0004 as part of the Navigation Ecosystem Sustainability Program. The project aims to increase floodplain forest and fish habitat.

HYDROLOGIC INFORMATION

Notes:

1. The daily pool elevation hydrograph is based on ten years of tailwater elevation observations recorded by the USACE tailwater gage at Lock and Dam 3 near Red Wing, Minnesota. Daily observations shown above are taken at approximately 8 AM Central Standard Time (CST). MSL 1912 0.37 ft = NAVD 88 at Lock and Dam 3.

2. These elevation hydrographs are based on the best information available. These elevation hydrographs represent the period shown, and do not necessarily represent all possible future conditions. Questions may be addressed to the office of the Corps of Engineers St. Paul, Minnesota.
