Amendment 0002

Attachment 1

Question #1: What level of “conservation” do you want in the exhibit cases? Are you saying that acrylic and laminate are acceptable?

Answer: "Museum-quality" includes such things as high-quality, non-hazardous materials in construction; use of mechanical fasteners rather than adhesives; use of 100% acrylic, low VOC paints;

isolating objects in the display area from painted surfaces with fabric-wrapped decks (for instance);

powder-coated metal surfaces, such as the collar between the pedestal and the acrylic. Yes, acrylic is acceptable as long as it is blocks UV light. The laminate is in the base and must be isolated from direct contact with the interior of the case with a fabric covered (or similar) deck.

Question #2: Do you have specific drawings for the cases?

Answer: No, we do not have drawings. But here are two examples of similar cases from online catalogs of museum-quality exhibit cases.

Question #3: You use the term “pedestal”. Is the pedestal the same size as the display case with an open front or is the pedestal smaller like a column or post? Would you consider using cypress or cedar wood for the cases? It would be in keeping with the surroundings Answer: Another word in the museum world is vitrine, meaning the pedestal base with an acrylic display area. The base/pedestal is the same size as the display area. The photos should help with this answer.
