P17PS01466: Provide and Install Two Climate Controlled Boxes - Gateway
National Recreation Area - Staten Island, NY – Questions and Answers
Question 1: Please supply the criteria for Humidity and Temperature Control for the Storage Boxes. In the winter when being heated is there any constraint on the environment being too dry?
Answer 1: Winter is likely to be dry; however, there is no water source for moistening the air.
Therefore the Park will be satisfied to control higher humidity levels than lower levels.
Question 2: We will size a pair of 2’ -6” x 7’ – 0” Doors. Do you require taller doors than this?
Answer 2: No
Question 3: Is 4” insulation on the floor panels sufficient?
Answer 3: Yes
Question 4: Please confirm there are no Communications, Security or Phone Requirements beyond the radio connected Fire Alarm.
Answer 4: See revised SOW attached to Amendment 0001. Phone line is the connection for the fire alarms.
Question 5: Please confirm that only the one set of doors is required for each storage container.
Answer 5: Confirmed
Question 6: Please confirm that 50 foot candles is sufficient lighting for the interior.
Answer 6: According to our architect that is fine.
Question 7: Please supply the heaviest loads on the insulated floor so storage box manufacturer can price them correctly.
Answer 7: Example 400lb, 12” cannon ball. And four legged metal shelving units reaching close to the ceiling of the box.
Question 8: Is there a required interior clear height? 11’ nominal exterior height would be about 10’ – 6” interior less the light fixtures.
Answer 8: See revised scope. Revised SOW in Fed Biz Ops changed to 10’ nominal height. Height is based on a maximum height that will get under existing ceiling light fixtures in arched ceiling casemate rooms.
Question 9: One of the questions just asked was about any telecom as part of the project. Page 8 says site plan for telephone cable but the next page does not call for any. The note “Cap Cable for future use may be is CAT cable? The last page requests a new 4” conduit run to a demark in the switchgear room. Is this the only task at this location? The rest of the SOW does not say anything about phones, phone conduit or cabling. Please clarify the phone requirements if any.
Answer 9: The telephone line in the manhole is a 100 pair cable. It should be brought into the electrical service panel room and punched down. A sufficient number of pairs needs to be extended from the electrical service panel room to the two casemate boxes and tied in to a dialer going back to the dispatch office.
To get into the electrical service panel room, there is an abandoned 4" cast iron pipe going through the wall of the Fort that the 100pr phone line should go thorough. See attached Revised Statement of
