Question 1: I was wondering if there was an estimated amount of construction for the referenced project and if a bid bond will be required? Also, can the submittal for the quotes be sent via e-mail or do they need to be mailed to the contracting office?
Answer 1: 1. This is not a construction contract it’s a service contract so there is no magnitude of construction; 2. No bonds will be required; 3. The quotes can be sent via e-mail.
Question 2:
a. Building Sugarlands #422a/64203 Pertaining to letter I, j, l, and m. I called the manufacturer Permaflex and Concrete Protector. The Concrete Protector Company purchased Permaflex. My question to them is do they sell SLR Item j? The do and I told them what the spec says, they said that slr will shrink, and that Irv should be used.
b. All Buildings: It states that two coats of Polyaspartic to be used then top coated with Graniseal. According to the Permaflex the Graniseal is a 56% solid Polyaspartic. The question is are we to topcoat with three coats of Graniseal?
c. All Buildings: Cove Base material. Permaflex does not have a traditional Cove base system. You can fill the joint at the floor and wall with one of their products, and then roll the Permaflex onto the wall. Is it acceptable to do this, or can we use a 2 part epoxy paste for the cove, and roll on the Permaflex? The issue is if you roll onto the wall, you will see all the joints on the wall, if the wall is block or brick. If the wall is drywall you will have a weak system.
d. Do the floors currently have a positive slope to drains?
Answer 2:
a. Section 3c.(1)(j) Change SLR to manufacturers recommendation of LRB – Liquid Rubber Base
b. Yes Graniseal is the Polyaspartic. Three coats Graniseal, all three coats must be same day applied to achieve monolithic bond. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v+Y-0272oFA8s see 7:19 on training video from manufacturer.
c. Power wash, masking tape height, then Sanitread tile prep, Permaflex prime coat, liquid rubber to fill grout lines or mortar joints, basecoat permaflex then color flake then top coat graniseal – 2 coats. No drywall present.
d. Yes
Question 3:
a. Is there any base to be installed on this project?
b. Are there a specific number of toilets to be removed for the epoxy installation?
c. Will there be an area the contractor could store supplies and equipment?
Answer 3:
a. Yes. See PWS 3.b.(9)(d). Method of application is described in a previous Question and Answer
b. 80% of toilets in this scope are wall mounted and 20% are floor mounted. Vendor shall pull and reset floor mounted toilets to operable condition as needed. Wall mounted toilets shall remain undisturbed.
