The Eaton UPS was selected due to its network connectivity and API capabilities required to integrate with the existing control systems, which would make other brands incompatible. The estimated value of the proposed action is $12,053.03. The solicitation number is 36C24624Q1075, and it is being issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 6.

1. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
The Eaton 1800 Watt Double Conversion UPS prevents downtime, outtages, and data loss by maintaining output and preventing sensitive electronics from being impacted by power issues.
These units will provide brown-out protection to the sensitive electronics that run the AV system, thereby decreasing system downtime and increasing the overall client usage experience. The addition of integrated, monitored Un-interruptible Power Supplies to the currently installed AV systems in Building 75 is required to enhance system stability by controlling for frequent power loss issues currently being experienced.
The Estimated Value of the Proposed Action is $12,053.03.
2. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
The Eaton UPS units were selected because of both their network connectivity, and their specific API abilities required to integrate to the existing systems. The selection of other brands or models of
UPS would not be compatible with the existing systems or require an extensive retrofit of the existing hardware and software to achieve the intended goals (which would require the expenditure of significant additional funds to accomplish). The currently installed AV systems in SVAMC building
75 are fully integrated with a central control room and control system running all the individual rooms as a single integrated system.
3. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted:
The requested items are available via open market via atleast three SDVOSB distributers other than the OEM Eaton Corporation. In order for the items in each room to work with the currently installed central control system they must be compatible with the type of network control currently installed and feature the required API integrations necessary to communicate with the existing system.
