CORRECTED -- NOAA 2011-1 Small Business Innovative Research Questions and Answers #3
December 7, 2010
The following Question and Answer is being corrected due a typographical error that was missed in the original posting. The underline portion indicates the corrected text.
Q: Research Topic 8.3.5D: The successful speed up of any source code on GPU is heavily dependent on how the CPU algorithm is written. Given the severe resource constraints of a Phase I project, would dramatic speed up of a piece of the algorithm on a GPU provide a sufficient metric for proof of concept for Phase II funding?
A: Speed would need to be demonstrated for the channel set used by NWP (which is about 300 channels mainly between 650 to 1100 cm-1 and 1200 to 1500 cm-1. This subset can be provided if requested in the contractor’s proposal and accepted by the government.
