1. Can you confirm that this work takes place in the Basement? Can we use the loading dock for our access?

Will there be interior storage for our materials?

A. The work area is on the lower level of building 1319 and is on the same level as the loading dock. The loading dock can be used for access. There is no space available in any building for material storage or office/administrative use. If needed, the contractor is responsible for providing exterior storage and office/administrative space for the duration of the project.

2. At Doors 1, 2 , 3 , 4 and 9, can you furnish us the height to the underside of the deck? In order to replace the head and jamb studs at these locations, the GWB and studs will need to be removed the full height of the partition assuming the partition runs to the underside of the deck. However, if the partitions aren’t to underside of deck, can you furnish partition height?

A. Existing head and jamb studs can remain in place for doors 1-4. Remove perimeter gypsum board as needed to remove existing door and frame and expose existing framing. Provide additional 16 Ga. studs and wood blocking as needed to adequately support the weight of new door assembly. The vault door 5 is in a concrete wall with 7/8” furring channel and gypsum board. Doors 6-8 are in CMU walls with 7/8” furring channels and gypsum board. Door 9 is in an 8’-5” metal stud partition wall that extends to the bottom of the suspended ceiling. If needed, provide bracing from top of partition wall to the deck above to provide adequate support for the new door assembly. See question 4 for ceiling and deck heights.

3. Are we to assume that was are to be “Patch Paint” at new GWB and not the entire wall?

A. The entire wall does not need to be painted. Paint to 12” outside the limits of disturbance for all door openings. All disturbed wall areas, including those areas above ceiling height are to be finished to a level 4 finish and painted.

4. At all locations, can you furnish the ceiling types and heights to determine the access to deck above and the extent to patch paint the walls.

A. Deck height is 14’-6” above finished floor. All rooms have suspended acoustical ceilings. Ceiling height for doors 1 and 2 is 8’-10”; ceiling height for doors 3 - 7 is 8’-9”; ceiling height for doors 8 and 9 is 8’-5”.

5. Door 5 (Vault) – View 1 shows a steel fence fastened to the vault frame that is being removed. Is this steel frame to be removed and disposed of or removed and reinstalled. If to be reinstalled, how do you want us to refasten. Can you furnish a photo showing the extent of the fence?

A. Vault door 5 is to be removed and disposed in its entirety, including the steel fence. It will not be reinstalled. See new door schedule for new door and frame to be installed in this location.

6. Door 5 being a vault type and assuming that it will take longer than the allowable workday hours of 8-1/2 hours, can we have extended hours here as available for Doors 6+8? If not can we install a temporary barricade and return the next day to complete?

A. Only doors 6 and 8 are to be removed and replaced the same day. Door 5 does not need to be removed and replaced the same day. For all doors, contractor shall work diligently from removal of existing doors through reinstallation of new door assemblies to install the door assemblies as quickly as possible and without delay.
