GENERAL INFORMATION

The following are not appropriate causes to warrant sole source/brand name justification:

a. The Antenna System is designed based on Cobham SATCOM’s 3-axis patented stabilization system, which isolates the antenna from the ship’s motion, no matter how rough the weather or seas and at the same time allowing the antenna to operate with elevation angles up to +110 degree. The antenna system responds to ship’s movement at a rate as fast as 90 degrees per second. Cobham SATCOM’s 3-axis stabilization system is a critical capability for PA32 to provide reliable and extremely fast data transferring and secure communication between the ships Corona and the ranges Additionally this capability also allows PA32’s

PA32’s Cobham SATCOM (Sea Tel, Inc.) Ku-Band Antenna System provides voice communications and transfers test event data to shore-based teams located at NSWC Corona and at range sites for near real-time analysis. The system provides clear and secure communications between ships, Ranges Ops and Analysis support sites. This communication capability is used by the test conductor to coordinate operations with the test ship during events and for Hot Wash-Up and Quick-Look Brief (QLB) discussions between analysts, test team and ship’s crew

The Cobham SATCOM Model 6012-48 125W 1.5m Ku-Band Tx/Rx Stabilized Antenna System is the only antenna system currently available in the market which would meet all of NSWC Corona’s requirements.

Market research was conducted to locate antenna systems which would meet the required salient characteristics GDSATCOM Orbit and Intellian were other brands researched None of these
