PART 3 STATEMENT OF WORK / PROJECT PROGRAM - Page 3
2.0 PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The objective of this project is to provide safe, reliable, and consistent electrical utility services to Buildings 322, 325, 328, 329, 510 & 520 onboard Naval Station Great Lakes in order to facilitate the training and welfare of DON military and civilian personnel.
These facilities are a critical component of the Training Support Command (TSC) mission. The existing electrical services are fed directly from substation M-30 and M-40 34.5 KV switchgear.
The circuits have experienced numerous cable faults and equipment failures eliminating all redundancy. If any of the equipment or cable on these circuits were to fail, the affected buildings would be out of power until replacement equipment could be rented or purchased. Failure to complete the proposed electrical service replacement will result in an increased number of outages and ultimately the loss of electrical service to these buildings. The loss of these buildings will limit the ability of TSC to meet their mission and provide highly trained sailors to the fleet.
