QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

The following are answers to questions received from potential offerors. The answers provide clarification only and

DO NOT constitute an amendment to the solicitation.

1. XPR5350 Mobile Base Stations. N32205-16-T-4511 Statement of Work (SOW) Section 7.5.6 – Regarding the DC #2 Locker, the SOW states to “Install RF coaxial cable and mount UHF Omni antenna on the bulkhead outside of #2 DC Repair Locker. Connect other end of RF cable to the output of the base station.

Exact location of antenna to be determined by the MSC Representative”.

a) What is the approximate length of the antenna cable run?

ANSWER: Length of cable run is not known. Recommend Contractor include sufficient length of RF cable.

b) What is the type of antenna that is preferred for use?

ANSWER: There is no specific antenna model recommended. Preferred antenna type is UHF, 3 dB

Omni fiberglass antenna within frequency range of the radio, base station, and repeater.

c) Are bulkhead penetrations required?

ANSWER: There is one bulkhead penetration exiting #2 DC Repair Locker.

2. XPR5350 Mobile Base Stations. N32205-16-T-4511 SOW Section 7.5.10 – The SOW states to “Mount base station on the Pilothouse. Exact location to be determined by the MSC Representative. Install UHF Omni antenna in vicinity of the Pilothouse (topside). Power for this device shall be obtained from the closet available AC circuit breaker on the Pilothouse in an available circuit breaker mark ‘SPARE’”.

a) What is the approximate length of the antenna cable run?

ANSWER: Length of cable run is not known. Recommend Contractor include sufficient length of RF cable.

b) What is the type of antenna that is preferred for use?

ANSWER: There is no specific antenna model recommended. Preferred antenna type is UHF, 3 dB

d) What is the approximate distance to the closet circuit breaker?

ANSWER: The approximate distance is +/- 30 ft.

e) Can the shipboard MSC team install electrical connections?

MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND

ANSWER: MSC will not install electrical connections. Ship's force would assist in lockout/tag out of associated circuit breakers and panels.

3. SLR5700 Repeaters. N32205-16-T-4511 SOW Section 7.5.11 – The SOW states that the Contractor will remove one (1) CDR-550 Repeater and install two (2) SLR-5700 Repeaters. Are both repeaters being connected to the existing Government antenna system?

ANSWER: Recommend Contractor use existing antenna system if possible.

4. Communications Test. N32205-16-T-4511 SOW Section 7.5.12 – the SOW states “Contractor shall perform all communications tests and system checks/alignments from station and repeater on ALL Sixteen

(16) UHF channels to handheld users throughout various shipboard locations in accordance with reference 2.1.” Please provide clarification on channel configurations for frequencies and P/L codes.
